A Set of Ten (8+2) George III Carved Mahogany Chippendale-Style Dining Chairs, late 18th century, recovered in modern close-nailed brown leatherette, the carved top rails above pierced splats and overstuffed seats, the armchairs with carved outswept arms, on square chamfered forelegs joined by an H stretcher, with blue floral needlework seat covers carvers 77cm by 52cm by 97cm singles 55cm by 46cm by 93cmProvenance: Dutton Manor, Lancashire Provenance: Lawrence Rawstone, Hutton Hall, Preston, 1922 with original letter referring to "Chippendale chairs" Armchair One - movement in joints and the timber is rather dry and faded. Splat with a small split. Armchair Two - arms are loose and with similar fading throughout. Single Chair One - rail loose. Single Chair Two - split/repair to splat. Other chairs are structurally sound, however, all chairs do have small repairs throughout, mainly to the moulded sections or the pierced splat (see images). Some variations in colour and some heavy fading throughout. See further images.

Drawer with patch repair around lock - as photographed. Structurally sound. Small repairs/faults/losses around the gallery and fretwork. Each tier with general scuffs and scratches. Cockbeading on drawers with some faults. Some scuffs and bruises throughout (as photographed). Overall reasonable.
A carved gilt wood and gesso girandole mirror. 18th century, in the Chippendale taste, with rococo scrolls mounted with a bird, and a leafy branch, with a floral bouquet surmount, height 85cm, width 41cm Chips and small losses to gilt, a white paint splash on the frame, beak to bird lacking, damage to top pediment but not off, general crazing to gilt images of affected areas on line.

Some old splits and chips, including an old repaired split to one hinged leaf. The centre of the top with some fading and dark marks. No key present, but both locks are open. Remnants of old paper linings to bases of drawers. Some evidence of old worm to the side friezes beneath the hinged leaves. Table in generally good/presentable order overall. The near set of mahogany dining chairs in the Chippendale taste carved splat backrests with theatre swags. Drop in seat pads with each raised on straight leg supports united by a H-stretcher. Table measures approx when extended. 74cm x 246cm x 117cm.
