Y A GEORGE III KINGWOOD, SATINWOOD, SYCAMORE, MARQUETRY AND CARVED GILTWOOD CONSOLE TABLE CIRCA 1790 Of bowfront outline 82cm high, 101cm wide, 46cm deep Condition Report: There are scratches, marks, knocks and abrasions consistent with age and use.There are losses, observations and restorations including: there is some evidence of worm including to the foot; some restoration including to the front area of the frieze, some later fixings of the leg, possible restoration to the underside of the top with some later staining; the back with some holes from previous wall fixings, the gilt frieze has some border lifting slightly; a good sign of quality is that the leg is carved to the back; the gilding has some cracks, flaking and touching up; the top has a greater overhang to the sides than it does to the front suggesting the possible re-positioning of the top on the base or indeed the possible association of the top to the base; the top with lateral indentations from underlying construction joins that are visible through the marquetry.Please see the additional photographs as a visual reference of condition. A CARVED WOOD AND PAINTED GESSO CONSOLE TABLE IN GEORGE II STYLE, IN THE MANNER OF WILLIAM KENT, OF RECENT MANUFACTURE 91cm high, 160cm wide, 64cm deep This table is a copy after original tables supplied to Bridgewater House, London. The original tables are attributed to Marsh and Tatham and the design attributed to Charles Heathcote Tatham. Originally a set of atleast twelve the original tables were supplied in circa 1803-6 to George Granville Leveson-Gower, Marquess of Stafford, later 1st Duke of Sutherland (d. 1833), for the 'New Gallery' at Cleveland House, St. James's (later Bridgwater House) by Marsh & Tatham, cabinet-makers to George, Prince of Wales. A pair of tables that this table is copied after are part of the collection at The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. A pair of George II-style carved giltwood console tables,20th century, in the manner of William Kent, each with a serpentine marble top over a moulded frieze and eagle base,94cm wide 48.5cm deep91cm high (2)Condition ReportOne or two small chips to the marble tops, and a few light surface scratches. A few very minor cracks and knocks to the carving, however generally the pair appear to be in good structural and cosmetic condition. Gilding appears very fresh, with one or two minor areas of touching up. Joints sound and solid. Ready to place.
