An impressive console table in the manner of James Del Vecchio, with rosewood veneered top supported on carved gilt lion monopodia, the laurel branch carved frieze with a central shell, the whole on a rosewood veneered plinth base with concave front, sold together with an associated gilt framed mirror, the upper corners with carved scrolling acanthus, width 155cm, height 235cm.
A Georgian mahogany console table, the rectangular top with moulded edge and reentrant corners supported by a recessed frieze and raised on shell carved cabriole legs terminating in claw and ball feet, width 119 cm, depth 54 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The table is in extremely good condition. In our opinion the table top which is in period mahogany will be a later replacement. The table is likely to originally have had a marble top. The top itself is in good order and of good colour. There are no spits and no damage to the top. The recessed frieze is in generally good condition. There is a small veneer repair to the front left-hand corner. The apron beneath has had some minor repairs however there are no losses and the colour is good and uniform all round. There are no loose joints. The table is structurally sound. The front legs appear to be in good order. Both rear legs have old long stress fractures. These are not open they are only visible on close inspection more so when viewed from the rear.
A Victorian oak console table, with rear upstand and marble top, fitted with a frieze drawer and raised on turned legs. Width 134 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The rear upstand is in generally very good condition with no damage, no losses, no repairs and no restoration. The marble top is not cracked and has no significant damage. There are some minor nibbles to the underside edge of the marble top but no significant losses. The frieze drawer is in good condition. The front legs and sides are in good order. Both rear legs have a heavy iron brace at the top of the back of each leg. This is unlikely to be original but has clearly been in position for a long time. The right-hand rear leg does not have any repairs or breaks. The left hand one does have a stress fracture and has been broken at the rear upper section which is probably why the bracing bracket is in place. The piece has not been altered. There is no evidence of any woodworm. It is structurally sound with only very minor movement at the joints. Height to table top 83 cm. Height to top of back 120 cm. Depth including upstand 54 cm. Height to top of upstand 37 cm.
