1980 Aston Martin V8 'Oscar India' Sports SaloonRegistration no. GDA 128V (see text)Chassis no. V8 SOR 12195*Automatic transmission*Refurbished in Italy in the 2000s*Remote central locking/alarm*Present ownership since 2010Footnotes:Shortly after reorganisation under new ownership as AML (1975) Ltd, Aston Martin resumed development of its highly successful V8 sports saloon. A host of improvements was to be incorporated in the forthcoming Series 4, scheduled for introduction in October 1978. Built from then until 1986, these cars are generally known by the factory's 'Oscar India' sobriquet, standing for 'October Introduction'. The most obvious differences were a restyled bonnet and boot-mounted spoiler, while the cabin received a redesigned dashboard and centre console, and the headlining became leather rather than cloth. There were, of course, countless other improvements, most notably to the air conditioning and shock absorber settings. Autocar magazine found much to commend in the 'Oscar India' tested in October 1978, reckoning that this latest example from the Newport Pagnell factory stood out as the best-built and most competently finished car it had ever known Aston Martin produce. An automatic transmission model equipped with the Vantage-type front spoiler, this particular 'Oscar India' was retailed via Clifford Sales Ltd and first owned by one A R C Cavendish-Cook of Surrey. Copy records on file show that the car was originally finished in (non-standard) Hereford Brown with Magnolia leather interior, and that it left the factory equipped with Weber carburettors; two detachable headrests; two Cibié auxiliary driving lights; electric door mirror; lockable filler caps; and headlamp wash/wipe. In 2004 the Aston was purchased from Byron International in London by the preceding owner and shipped to Italy for restoration works. All lower wishbone bushes were renewed, the fuel pump and Weber carburettors stripped and rebuilt, and 80% of the electrical wiring replaced. New parts fitted included the front/rear brake discs and pads; wheel hubs; BBS wheels; tyres; ancillary drive belts; ignition leads; spark plugs; and battery. In addition, the car has been fitted with remote central locking/alarm and an Alpine stereo system complete with electric aerial. All fluids and filters were changed in February 2010, and the Aston has seen little use since it was purchased by the vendor at Bonhams' Monaco sale in April 2010 (Lot 161). Please note that if the car remains in the UK, it is subject to the low import duty rate of 5% and - although offered with a copy V5C registration document - will require re-registering if it is to remain in the UK.Lot to be sold without reserve. This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: * N* VAT on imported items at a preferential rate of 5% on Hammer Price and the prevailing rate on Buyer's Premium.N If purchased by a UK resident, this machine is subject to a NOVA declaration, whilst the responsibility of submitting the NOVA rests with the Buyer to do so, Bonhams will facilitate the process by engaging an agent (CARS) to undertake the NOVA on the Buyer's behalf. 2001 Mercedes-Benz SLK 320 Transmission: automatic Mileage: 53641At start of the 1990s, after the introduction of their two-seat, grand-tourer R129 SL and the Mazda MX-5, Mercedes-Benz set out to create a new compact roadster, slotted below the SL. By late 1991, under Bruno Sacco, the first design sketches were drawn and scale models being built in the first half of 1992. Massively successful in its first year, worldwide sales hit 55,000, over double the entire nine-year production of 190 SLs and between 1996 and 2004, over 311,000 SLKs were sold. The roof design consists of a folding steel hardtop with both halves linked by a mechanism which is locked securely when the roof is closed. At the touch of a button on the centre console, a hydraulic system controls the fully automatic folding process in which the boot lid is also integrated. This SLK 320 was originally supplied on 31st May 2001 and is finished in striking metallic green with a two-tone interior. The 3199cc V6 engine starts promptly when requested; she both runs and drives well. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until 30th March 2022, this Mercedes-Benz is offered for sale with its private number plate and without reserve.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Lot 135

1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Transmission: automatic Mileage: 136701969 was the benchmark year for Ford Mustang in its proliferation of performance names and engines. No fewer than six factory performance Mustang models were available. Additionally, seven variations of V8s were available in the 1969/1970 models, most of these also available in the new Mach 1. The Mach 1 started with a V8 powered ‘Sportsroof’ body and added numerous visual and performance enhancing items. Standard on Mach 1’s was a fierce but cosmetic hood scoop that had integrated turn-signal lights mounted in the back. A more functional option was the signature ‘shaker hood’, an air scoop mounted directly to the top of the motor, used to collect fresh air and so named for its tendency to ‘shake’ above the rumbling V8 below. The interior came complete with teak wood grain details, full sound deadening material and high-back sport bucket seats. This powerful genuine, 1970 code 05 Mustang Mach 1 351 Cleveland Auto was restored about 15 years ago with a total strip down and repaint in metallic blue over tan interior. The car had benefitted from an engine rebuild a few years earlier and features an Edelbrock alloy inlet. The list of enhancements includes an upgraded exhaust system, power disc brakes, chrome Mach 1 wheels and plenty of polished parts under the bonnet. The interior is in good condition with a sportsdeck folding rear seat, centre console and a wood rimmed steering wheel. When we fired the car up the noise was as impressive as the looks of this car and we are told she is a joy to drive. Offered to auction with a V5C registration document, this is an opportunity to own a classic piece of Americana.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

Lot 136

1968 Chevrolet Camaro SS Convertible Transmission: automatic Mileage: 12766The Chevrolet Camaro was General Motors’ response to the highly successful Ford Mustang pony car. The first Camaro that appeared on sale in September 1966 was a 2+2 two door available with a coupé or convertible body, sharing the chassis and many other parts from the Pontiac Firebird. A wide range of engine options included six and eight cylinder derivatives, from the base model 230ci straight six to the 427ci V8 big block. With a staggering fourteen different power plants available, buyers were not short of choice when selecting their engine! The Camaro had sold well after its introduction and by 1969 was extremely popular; with revised styling the car looked meaner than the earlier models with an aggressive grille, slightly squarer body panels, and squared-off rear wheel arches. The nose was restyled utilising the Rally Sport grille package, with partially see through headlight covers that rotated to reveal the headlights whilst the rear of the car used new multi-sectioned tail lights. The interior was similar to the 1967/68 models but featured a new dashboard fitted with square-shaped instruments. The console remained the same as 1968 but it received a redesigned main instrument panel with the two main pods squared off instead of rounded as in earlier models. If a tachometer was purchased separately, the fuel gauge was relocated to the small centre dash pod normally reserved for the clock, the first time this option was available on a Camaro. This Camaro SS convertible is offered in the desirable and rare colour combination of Hugger orange with Opalescent white interior and black carpets and comes with extras including power steering and power brakes. It was imported to the UK in 2015 from Arizona having had various works carried out prior to import. Disc brakes were fitted all round along with adjustable shock absorbers, a full stainless steel exhaust system, Boyd Coddington alloy wheels and a Kicker stereo system with Bluetooth connectivity. The car is fitted with a 12 bolt positraction rear end, the rare tick tock tach and centre console with four dials, and an electric hood. Presented in good order throughout, the paintwork and chromework both retain a deep shine and the interior is just as good. The vendor reports that this Camaro drives well and sounds fantastic when on song, attracting attention wherever it goes. Offered with the owner’s manual, sales brochure and a current UK V5C registration document.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

Lot 198

1970 Rolls-Royce Shadow Two-Door Fixed-Head Coupé Transmission: automatic Mileage: 63046The unitary construction Silver Shadow unveiled in 1965 nudged Rolls-Royce into a brand of new generation of luxury motor cars built by Mulliner/Park Ward. Rolls-Royce Motors formed Mulliner/Park Ward in 1961 by the merger of two Rolls-Royce subsidiaries: Park Ward of Willesden, London, a subsidiary since 1939 and H. J. Mulliner & Co. of Chiswick, a subsidiary since 1959. The first of these cars was a development of the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow with the two-door variants of that model marketed as the ‘Silver Shadow Mulliner Park Ward’ two-door fixed-head coupé, the very handsome coachwork design by John Blatchley and his deputy Bill Allen. The model was assembled and finished in London at the Mulliner Park Ward, Willesden factory producing two models - the Drop-head Coupé and the Two-Door Fixed-Head Coupé; the Corniche name was applied from 1971 for all two-door coupés. The early car used the standard Rolls-Royce V8, 6230cc engine mated to a automatic transmission from General Motors. The engine size was increased in 1970 to 6750cc.This excellent Rolls-Royce Shadow Two-Door Fixed-Head Coupé was ordered in August 1969 by Jack Barclay Ltd for their esteemed customer Richard Attenborough, the world-famous actor, filmmaker and entrepreneur. He had it specially commissioned to be finished in ICI special green, non-metallic paintwork and trimmed in beige striped cloth. The order sheet also shows that the car was fitted with Firestone whitewall tyres together with plain sundym glass throughout, full refrigeration, the ashtrays removed, and a special console made to house the electric seat switches; usually fitted to the door cards, as it wasn’t considered to be so easily accessible. Once completed, it was received by Jack Barclay Ltd in Berkeley Square for pre-delivery inspection prior to Christmas 1969 when it was pre-registered with the number OO 3907 for use from January 1st 1970. Mr Attenborough retained the car for many years, mainly chauffeur driven, until in 1984, with only 11,400 miles on the odometer, he replaced it with a Rolls-Royce Corniche Coupé. From 1984 there is an extensive history file showing that it has been kept in superb condition. In 2006/7, bearing the current registration mark, it was owned by a collector of Rolls-Royce and Bentley cars, who had the cloth interior replaced with beige Connolly hide, piped in green, before putting the car up for sale by auction at the RREC annual rally in 2007. It was purchased by a German classic car collector whose collection included Bentley, Jaguar, Austin Healey and Ferrari and, wanting perfection to match his other cars, he had a major restoration carried out on the already great car, resulting in the splendid example of the marque it is today. The current keeper purchased the car in January 2019 and he has maintained it to the same high standards as the previous owners spending £16,000 with marque specialists The Chelsea Workshop. Finished in its original unique colour of green, this fixed-head coupé is supplied with a UK V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in May 2022 and the very large history file which has copies of the chassis cards, MoT certificates going back to 1984 and copious invoices relating to the work carried out.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

Lot 230

2001 Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph ‘Last of Line’ Edition Transmission: automatic Mileage: 26903Unveiled in March 1998, the Silver Seraph replaced the Silver Spur. All Seraphs were handbuilt at the Rolls-Royce factory in Crewe, England, which stopped making Rolls-Royce models in 2002 but continued with Bentley. The car had a base price of £155,175 in the UK and was powered by a 5.4 litre, aluminium alloy, BMW V12 engine making it the first twelve-cylinder Rolls-Royce since the 1939 Phantom III. Standard electronics included digital engine management, adaptive ride control and anti-lock brakes and, aside from the radiator grille, badges and wheels, the Rolls-Royce was externally identical to the contemporary Bentley Arnage sharing both its platform and bodyshell. Inside, the Silver Seraph and the Bentley Arnage were similar but quite distinct from one another. In the Seraph, the gear selector was column mounted, and the gauges followed a traditional Rolls-Royce layout; for example, without a tachometer. In both cars, the seats and dashboard were upholstered in Connolly leather and glossy burr walnut veneer and featured folding picnic trays for rear passengers. The Silver Seraph Last of Line is a special edition of the Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph. The model was meant to mark the termination of the production of Rolls-Royces in the factory in Crewe. These cars boasted above the standard cars, special wood veneers with inlayed ‘Spirit of Ecstasy’ motif, a commemorative plaque on the centre console, red RR-badges on the grille and the boot lid, ‘Spirit of Ecstasy’ motif on the hub caps, chromed exterior mirrors and a subtle badge on the front fenders with the text ‘Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, Crewe, England’, together with the British flag. This absolutely stunning example is offered in a combination of Sherwood Green with Barley Hide piped in navy with Wilton carpet and sheepskin over rugs. One of just 46 right hand drive Last of Line examples, this car boasts just four former owners, the first being the supplying dealer JCT 600 who had this well specified example as a demonstrator before selling it to the first owner in June 2002. The car is offered with a comprehensive service history starting with JCT 600 right through to P&A Wood and recently Silver Lady in October 2020 at 26,898 miles. Complemented by the original two umbrellas in the boot and uprated modern Bluetooth phone kit and satellite navigation, this example also comes supplied with a full book pack, original service booklet and history file. Thought to be one of the best examples available to market and signifying such a transition for Rolls-Royce, this is certainly a collector’s item – so much so that our vendor commissioned his Spirit of Ecstasy to be gold plated. A stunning example of a truly appreciating classic.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.
