Paris, um 1785.Braunroter weiß geäderter Marmor mit gegossener, ziselierter und vergoldeter Montierung. Über quadratischem Grund die hohe Basis mit eingezogenen Ecken und Lorbeerblattkranz. Konisch zulaufender Fuß mit darüberliegendem Lanzettblattrelief und ovoidem Korpus. Auf den Schultern fein ziselierte und vergoldete Satyrköpfe in Ormolu. Doppelkonischer Hals mit Perlband und Haubendeckel mit fruktalem Knauf.Anmerkung 1: Ein ähnliches Paar Satyrköpfe an einem Tripod, Paris, um 1785, in der Wallace Collection, London. Ein vergleichbares Paar Vasen steht auf einer Marmorkonsole im Musée Nissim de Camando, Paris. Anmerkung 2: Die Montierung kann Pierre Gouthière zugeschrieben werden, einem der bekanntesten Gießer und Ziseleure seiner Zeit. In der Bibiliothèque municipale in Besançon, wird eine Zeichnung (Fonds Paris, Album 453) aufbewahrt, die Vorzeichnungen Pierre Gouthières zu bronzemontierten Objekten zeigt. Legatura coeva in pergamena con titolo manoscritto al dorso (abile restauro alla cerniera posteriore).  Celebre contraffazione dell’edizione del 1527 stampata in sole 300 copie. Legatura coeva in vitellino marmorizzato con fregi fitomorfi al dorso, filetti dorati ai piatti, unghiatura à dentelles (piccola mancanza alla cuffia superiore, lieve abrasioni).  Prima edizione apparsa postuma e clandestina, verosimilmente per interessamento del console Joseph Smith.
