Attributed to BBPR (Milan, 1932)."Consolle", ca.1960.Walnut wood and marble.Measurements: 74 x 115,5 x 32 cm.The team of architects BBPR (being the acronym that arises from the initials of the surnames of the four members: Gian Luigi Banfi (Milan, 1910 - Gusen, 1945), Lodovico Barbiano di Belgiojoso (Milan, 1909 - 2004), Enrico Peressutti (Pinzano al Tagliamento, 1908 - Milan 1976) and Ernesto Nathan Rogers (Trieste, 1909 - Gardone, 1969), was formed in Milan in 1932. Their initial works were influenced by the Italian rationalism of the 1930's. Among their most relevant works, the Pavia Regulatory Plan (1932), the Tourist Plan for the island of Elba (1939), and especially the Valle d'Aosta Regulatory Plan (1936 - 1937) stand out. They fought for the introduction of modern architecture within fascism. Over the years, their rationalism underwent expressive changes typical of the late Le Corbusier and his approach to the theme of Brutalism, among other interpretations of Neoliberty. This current can be seen reflected in the Velasca Tower in Milan, a work from 1958. Furniture from this collective is highly sought after at auction. A diamond-shaped console in alpine green marble was sold at an Italian auction for 57500€, and a monumental chandelier in brass and molded glass was sold for 55000€.
