An Authentic Account of the Wreck of the 'Royal Charter' Steam Clipper, on her Passage from Australia to Liverpool, October 26th, 1859; with an interesting Addition of Subsequent Events and Incidents, written during the Residence at Moelfra, the Scene of the Catastrophe, 1st ed., pub. M'Glashan & Gill, Dublin, 1860, tinted litho. frontis. and one other plt., 121pp., errata leaf at end, addn. printed review leaflet pasted in after title, orig. printed boards, slim 12mo. Ferguson 11088. This copy with author's presentation inscription on flyleaf, 'An humble offering presented to the Rev. Stephen Roose Hughes by Amelia Kennedy as a memorial of the wreck of the 'Royal Charter', Oct. 26. '59 And also, as an imperfect acknowledgement of the tender solicitude and genuine kindness she experienced from him while at Llanalego, and during her residence at the scene of the fatal catastrophe, Waterford, July 3, 1860'. The Reverend Hughes was rector of Llanallgo Church in North Wales, and 'had a trying task to perform, not only that of consigning 'dust to dust', but also, of ministering to the living, comforting the fatherless children and widows, and sheltering the desolate and opressed. His amiable wife and sisters-in-law, the Miss Mosdales, imposed on themselves the painful task of examining the dead, ornaments, clothing, and even the type of the mutilated face was faithfully noted and preserved .'
