Selection (9) of Metropolitan Railway BOOKLETS & LEAFLETS comprising two x 'Record of Events since the Opening of the Line, 1863', the 1878 and 1927 issues respectively, the first is well-used, the second is very good, a c1924 52pp large, illustrated booklet 'Metropolitan Railway Electrification' published by Metro-Vickers (vgc), a small, c1924 Met Rlwy issue on the same subject (used), 1925 card leaflet 'Watford's new Railway' (good), 3 x 1920s Metro-Land leaflets (vgc) and 1933 Met & GC JC leaflet 'New Station - Northwood Hills' (vgc). Pair of LCC Tramways POCKET MAPS dated August 1913 and May 1914 respectively. The former includes a loose LCC Tramways leaflet 'Cheap Return Fares' and the latter similarly one entitled 'Travel by Tram to Highgate Village, Parliament Hill Fields and Hampstead Heath'. Both are in very good condition. [2]
London General Omnibus Company Ltd fold-out LEAFLET of Motor and Horse Routes dated October 1910 from the monthly series which ran from June 1910 to February 1911. Cover has illustration of an early motor-bus and the contents include details of motor services 1-24 and horse services 32-92. Survivors from this series very rarely appear at auction. In very good condition. [1]
1863 Metropolitan Railway TIMETABLES LEAFLET for the original service from Paddington to Farringdon St plus Great Western & Great Northern through trains. Also lists the relevant fares. Small, pocket-sized, opens out in a strip. Dated November 1863, from the first year of operation of the World's first underground railway. Apart from the one produced for the opening day, this is the earliest example we have seen. Well-used with ageing. One partial fold-split, small ink stains and traces of adhesive on the cover. A most remarkable survivor. [1]
Selection of 1930s London United Tramways & London Transport Trolleybus/Tram to Trolleybus LEAFLETS incl the first conversion in May 1931 ( 2 copies), the 2nd in July 1931 and 1935 LT examples for Sutton-Crystal Palace, Woolwich etc and Hammersmith & Shepherds Bush. Plus a 1931 (presumably) LUT leaflet re the introduction of the Feltham trams and a small selection of early commercial postcards featuring London buses and trams. Extremely rare Shortt Synchronome astronomical regulator with experimental Inertia escapement, made in 1912, within a mahogany case, 55.5" high *The clock is accompanied by a letter from The Synchronome Company to a previous owner confirming that only twelve such clocks were made. This experimental clock type should not be confused with the later Synchronome astronomical SH6 clocks made after the First World War in 1926 for Admiral Fountaine and then various observatories. The clock is sold with copies of Shortt's patent of 22 November 1911, his lecture to the BHI on 16 January 2012 and the Synchronome Company's sales leaflet for this clock The clock is original, with mahogany case with moulded cornice and base, the glazed door with rectangular bevelled glass, the upper section with round dial glass and silvered astronomical dial with blued steel hands, dial movement with four wheel train and narrow, rectangular brass plates. The case back has a heavy triangular cast iron suspension support for pendulum, with two invar compensation rods connecting it to the bottom mounted movement and supporting the beat scale. The movement with snailed brass back plate and agate tipped gravity arm, the arm electrically reset every second, and interacting with a wheel mounted to a carriage at the bottom of the pendulum rod, providing impulse at every vibration, invar rod with steel suspension, weight platform and cylindrical lead bob; suspension mount, lower suspension part below bob, and case key detached for transport

A set of 11 Coalport limited edition bone china plates, bearing colour prints of iconic British aircraft of WWII entitled "Reach for the Sky" by Brian Turner, the first 9 being 8¼" diam, the final 10" diam, each numbered on the back and with accompanying leaflet and Certificate of Authenticity; and a similar Wedgwood plate depicting a Sunderland flying boat, with leaflet and certificate. Corgi - A boxed Corgi 267 Batmobile with Red Tyres. The model has a gloss black body, blue tinted windscreen, Batman & Robin Figures, gold tow hook The model appears to be in MInt but dusty condition, and is in a Fair blue and yellow slimline box with some marks, creasing scuffing, and is missing an internal flap. The model comes with its instruction leaflet, an opened envelope with some rockets still attached to sprue.
The Faery Fan, Always Perfumed: A Boxed Fan Novelty, the outer box lid with an image of a 1920's lad, her hair suitably bobbed and waved, holding a strangely shaped contraption that vaguely resembles a fan. Inside, a celluloid fan shaped, item with shaped green inner section. An explanatory leaflet encourages you to ''Insert a few drops of your choice of perfume in a small hole near the upper part of the handle This is best done by using a small glass dropper''. More instructions follow. Patented in the United States, Canada and other countries. Together with a mid-19th century bone fan, with lithographed leaf showing three ladies and a gentleman gathering for a musical interlude, one lady with a tambourine, the gentleman with a strung instrument. The reserves have gold highlights. The verso is decorated in gold. The LOWER guard, unusually, is fitted with a metal panel a circular section being in relief, and proving to be a container for perfume. The circular lid can be lifted and perfume dropped onto fabric contained therein, with small holes on the lid to allow the perfume to circulate as the fan is moved. Guard length 10.5 inches or 27cm. And a third item, a fixed cardboard screen printed with advertising for ''Potter & Moore's original Mitcham Lavender'', showing a young family out for a stroll, the lady with small parasol and fabric bag, the gentleman wearing a top hat. The scent is described as ''The Most Fragrant in the World''. Further advertising is printed on the verso. Height 9.75 inches or 24.5cm. The faery fan is unused, the box fitted interior very slightly damaged. The bone fan is in good order. The hand screen is quite worn and creased.
