CRUIKSHANK: An early 19th Century "Skit Note", a "Bank of Restriction" by George Cruikshank. Published by William Hone, with signature` Ketch` (Ketch was a notorious 17th Century Hangman). Produced in the early 19th Century, part of a series of similar issues, in protest against the Draconian Forcery Laws of the time. Mounted in an early 20th Century frame, accompanied by a leaflet on the subject by Rev. J.A. Drun dated 1900
LZ 11 “Viktoria-Luise” memorabilia. A four page menu for the Wine and Food Trolley aboard the “Viktoria Luise”, one of the world’s first successful passenger aerial craft. The front cover displays the title and ship’s name, the inside front cover lists the wines, champagnes and liqueurs, the inside back cover lists the food options, and the back cover is blank, except for the printers name and a date stamp for 1912. Slightly yellowed and perforated by a two-hole punch. Together with a four page information leaflet, issued by the Hamburg-Amerika line giving information about the “Victoria Luise” ; the front cover shows the interior of the passenger cabin, the centre pages contain close printed text in traditional German font, and on the back are two more photos (there is a double “H” stamp on the front). Imperial Patent Office Leaflet - Nr 98580 Graf F von Zeppelin. 13 August 1898. Leaflet, in German, issuing a patent in 13 August 1898 for the idea registered by von Zeppelin on 31 August 1895. The document is for a steerable, propelled airship (“Lenkbarer Luftfahrzug mit mehren hinter einander angeordneten Tragkörben”). Two and a half pages of twin column text and a pull-out diagram at the back, showing an early concept of a Zeppelin rigid airship utilizing a moving balance mechanism. (LZ1 was a refinement on this concept, but it was discarded for later designs). The paper is yellowed and foxed, with marks and stains, but this is a very interesting historical document.QGC
Swiss Patent 16343 - 3.Januar 1898. A leaflet showing the patent granted by the Swiss Patent office to Ferdinand, Graf von Zeppelin on 3 January 1898 for “Luftfahrzug, dessen Zugkörpermit getrennt angeordneten Motoren versehen ist.”. Three and a quarter sides of double column text with diagrams on subsequent pages. This patent is very similar to the Kaiserlicht Patentschrift No 98580. VF.
A Corgi Land Rover Breakdown Truck no 417S. LWB body in red with pale yellow part-canopy bearing corgi motif, Breakdown Service and spot lamp, lemon interior, spring suspension, shaped hubs, black tyres. A side-mounted spare wheel also operates the towing jib, with original hook and twine. Boxed, minor wear, complete with collector leaflet; vehicle VGC, minor chipping. See Plate 3
