Relic from the B17 Flying Fortress Tondalayo, the oxygen bottle from the crash site, the Tondalayo was returning from a leaflet drop over Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Utrecht, the tragedy occurred when the Bomber was flying home at the same time as two German planes, the resulting confusion caused the anti aircraft guns to hit the Tondalayo, the pilot had to take the plane down for a crash landing but was then hit again near Woodbridge, it was at this point the order to bail was given, leaving pilot and co- pilot, Lieutenant Col Earle J. Aber & Lieutenant Maurice J. Harper to attempt to land the plane, both men perished on the night of March 4th 1945, the crash site is near to the West side of Parkeston in the river Stour mudflats, together with two shell casings from a 20mm cannon shell from a P-38 Lighting, this aircraft crashed adjacent to the A120 Dovercourt after being shot down by a Harwich anti aircraft gun
Bentley Speed Six - 1930. A large format 'The Silent Speed Six' Leaflet No 31, dated January 1930. Possibly the first Speed Six brochure, 8pp including cover, with well-defined images of the engine, chassis, two and four-door Weymann -bodied saloons, component parts, specifications in green and black text. Some spotting and light soiling to the front and rear covers, ink manuscript at the top edge, but original cotton-tied spine intact. (1)
Bentley - Six Cylinder 6 1/2 Litre Model. Probably Bentley's first six-cylinder leaflet No 9 dated August 1926. 8pp including cover, well-defined images of the engine, chassis, two Weymann -bodied saloons, component parts, specifications and prices in red and black text. The original cotton-tied spine intact, albeit with a split top and bottom, water damage on the lower fore-edge of each page, some surface loss and the odd stain. Editorial good. (1)
Bentley 4 1/2 Litre. A large format 'leaflet No 32', dated January 1930. 12pp including the cover and featuring on page 10 and 11, 'The New Supercharged Bentley 4 1/2 Litre' illustrating the 'Le Mans' car with its Amherst Villiers Mk IV supercharger. Also, with well-defined images of the engine, chassis, sporting four-seater, Weymann-bodied saloon, component parts, specifications and the prices of the supercharged model with printed reductions. This publication has lost its cotton ties and is now held by a plastic spine grip. The pages are rather soiled and the rear page with some paper loss. However, a good working copy of this rare brochure. (1)

With less than 71,000 miles from new, this top of the range Cougar was supplied by Dagenham Motors of Thames Ditton, Surrey, to its first owner a Mr David Rossi from Molesey, Surrey and there have been five further owners. A low mileage example which has a black leather interior and is offered with an original supplied owner's wallet, with owner's guide, service history log, warranty and service guide, audio guide and safety advice leaflet. CONDITION REPORT: This Lot is part of a substantial collection of books and ephemera consigned to auction by the Imperial War Museum which represent duplicates of items already in their collection. The material covers the 1st. & 2nd. World Wars, other areas of 20th.C. Military History and more general, related subjects. It will therefore bear evidence of this fact to varying degrees in the form of library stamps, booking sheets etc. Evidence of this provenance varies considerably. A number of books have a standard library binding. A substantial number retain the original binding. In the context of its status as an ex-library collection the condition of individual Lots varies - some might be considered 'poor' (though scarce), most are 'good' to 'very good'. Interested buyers/bidders are advised to make their own physical checks on Lots prior to submitting or making bids well before the day of the sale.
