1935 Deutsche Lufthansa (German Airways) fold-out BROCHURE for Air-mail services by plane & airship from Britain ('England'!) to South America with postage rates from various UK locations plus passenger services by the 'Graf Zeppelin' airship from Friedrichshafen with connecting plane from Croydon Airport. A fascinating double-sided leaflet from the late pre-WW2 period. Lightly-used with some fold-wear. [1]

1908 London & North Western Railway fold-out TIMETABLE LEAFLET for Motor Omnibus Services in the Watford & Harrow areas (excellent condition, illustrated with an L&NWR omnibus on the front) plus 1914 London General double-sided LEAFLET 'Cheap Return Fare Facilities' and 1932 London General Country Services fold-out LEAFLET 'Motor Coach Guide of Coastal Services, Day & Afternoon Tours', the latter two items both in good, lightly-used condition, previously folded. The Earl of Snowden and Carl Toms, a red painted beech and laminate elbow chair produced for the Investiture of the Prince of Wales the back gilt decorated with the Prince of Wales feathers and motto Ich Dien with a padded seat 77cm high 4000 of these chairs were produced for the 1969 Investiture at Caernarfon Castle North Wales CONDITION REPORT: Manufactured by disabled workers at the Remploy factory in Bridgend, the chairs have beech wood frames with seats and backs constructed from preformed plywood, veneered in olive ash and stained in a vermillion red. The backs are embossed with the Prince of Wales’s feathers in gold leaf and the seats are upholstered in red Welsh tweed, using a stable dye that would not run onto the guest’s clothes in case of a Welsh downpour. The underside of the seat bears a Prince of Wales feathers stamp, the date and - obscured by the upholstery - individual handwritten numbering. The chairs were offered for sale after the ceremony and sold flat-packed for £12 each via a promotional advertising leaflet that encouraged guests to re-assemble the chairs for themselvesCONDITION - wear to the tops of the arms, wear to the paintwork on the legs, sdcrew missing from the base, in overall used condition, upholstery appears to be original, foam has deteriorated
A Curta type I mechanical calculator, Contina Limited, Mauren, Liechtenstein, 1964 The circular top with cranked operating handle, clearing lever and moveable decimal markers within outer silver and black bordered numeral apertures with the former being the quotient dial and the latter being the product dial, the cylindrical body with knurled upper carriage rotating against a numbered position scale calibrated 1-11 over inscribed text CURTA and eight vertical setting register sliders each adjusting 1-9, the base with fixed knurled collar incorporating two further moveable decimal markers, the underside inscribed Type I, No. 56276, Made in Liechtenstein… by Contina AG Mauren, System Curt Herzstark, diameter 5.3mm (2.125ins approx.), in original black satin finish metal plastic sleeve case 12cm (4.75ins) high and complete with instruction leaflet, computing examples booklet, guarantee dated 27.7.64 and cardboard box. The Curta portable mechanical calculator was invented by Curt Herzstark in 1938 just before he was a prisoner in the Buchenwald concentration camp. During his incarceration he was allowed to continue working on the design presumably due to the future possible benefit of his Nazi captors. Following his liberation by American Troops Herzstark completed and perfected the design. The calculators were made in Liechtenstein by Contina AG Mauren and were widely considered the best portable calculators available until the development of the electronic calculator in the 1970s. Two models of Curta calculator were produced. The type I had eight digits of slides, a six-digit revolution counter and an eleven-digit result counter. The larger Type II was introduced in 1954, and featured eleven digits of slides, an eight-digit revolution counter, and a fifteen-digit result counter.

Parker, R.M.S Queen Elizabeth, a limited edition brass fountain pen, no. 1469/5000, the cap with gilt arrow clip, the medium nib stamped 14K, cartridge filling system, uninked, with a Park presentation box, bar converter, certificate and instruction leaflet The R.M.S Queen Elizabeth was originally built to be a luxury passenger liner, but its first voyage was used to transport allied troops during World War II. This Parker pen series was created from recovered brass from R.M.S Queen Elizabeth, after a disastrous fire in 1972 sunk the ship to the bottom of the Hong Kong harbour.
