STALIN JOSEPH: (1878-1953) Soviet Dictator. Leader of the Soviet Union as General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party 1922-52. A.N.S., I. Stalin, one page, clipped 4to, Moscow, n.d., to comrade Sorin, in Cyrillic. Rare autograph note by Stalin, boldly written in pencil, to the upper left corner of a clipped typed letter, partially over the typed text. Stalin states `C.[comrade] Sorin, Personally get it published, I remember very well, also c. Drodt letter confirms accordingly, that this May Day flyer [proclamation] 1912 was written by myself personally in Moscow. I Stalin´. The typed text is a letter from Stalin´s correspondent, comrade Sorin, to Stalin, stating in part `Dear Comrade Stalin! We send you two documents scheduled for printing in "Pravda" May Day issue": 1. Lenin´s article "Then and Now" from "Pravda" 191... - The manuscript of the article has not been conserved, but Lenin´s authorship is unquestionable. We have already given evidences to the press in support of the belonging of the article to Lenin. We deliver the documents for "Pravda" May Day issue so late because we [could] not find any Vladimir Ilyich´ unpublished article that would suit the issue´s content - the article "Then and Now" suits best. - 2. May Day leaflet dated 1912. From those of your works listed by comrade Tolstuhova, we can notice that the proclamation is written by you, and comrade Tolstuhova assigned…´. The letter has been clipped, saving Stalin´s annotation in full. With trimmed edges and few very small tears not affecting Stalin´s written text. F to G £1000-1500

Lot 2027

- Purchased new by its previous keeper as a 50th birthday present to himself and less than 20,000 miles from new- Repainted in its original Pale Primrose livery but original Cinammon leather upholstery, Black hood and exhaust system!- Jaguar Heritage Certificate confirming matching numbers, dealer supplied book pack etcIntroduced in 1971, the Jaguar E-Type V12 Roadster offered a blend of performance and refinement that few rivals could match. Benefiting from a wider track, longer wheelbase and better brakes than its predecessors, the last of the E-Type Roadsters was fitted with power steering as standard but still promised a nigh on 150mph top speed. According to its accompanying Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, this particular example was built on 12th October 1973 and dispatched to British Leyland, New York some three months later. Originally finished in Pale Primrose Yellow with Cinnamon leather upholstery, the E-Type was purchased new by R. Daniel Woods of Stockton California from his local dealership Norman Nock Imported Cars as a 50th birthday present to himself on April 19th 1975. Acquired in preference to a Porsche, the V12 Roadster was still in Mr Woods' possession past his 90th birthday by which time it had covered a mere 19,000 miles from new. Resident in California until entering the current (second) ownership last year, the Jaguar has since been treated to sympathetic recommissioning and a repaint in its initial hue (the latter due to sun-bleaching). Understood to be highly original even down to the preservation of its factory-fitted exhaust and air-conditioning systems, the E-Type nevertheless reportedly had its Borg Warner automatic transmission overhauled at 15,000 miles. A real `timewarp' that pleasingly retains its original interior (complete with Black vinyl hood) and `matching numbers' V12 powerplant, `KRB 581N' has yet to record 20,000 miles on its odometer. Part of an E-Type collection that is being regretfully downsized, this remarkably low mileage Roadster is offered for sale with its original handbook (plus associated wallet), lubrication chart, wiring diagram, British Leyland `Passport to Service', stopping distance chart and seatbelt leaflet not to mention a fresh MOT certificate.
