A Very Rare Chinese Armorial Ivory Chess Set, first half of 19th Century, pawns and pieces all standing on a pierced ball sphere over a wave-carved flat base: the oriental set stained red with pagoda castles, the white set carved as European King and Queen, each hexagonal castle inlaid with a mother-of-pearl tablet incised with an armorial shield, {7cm to 14cm} {crest a dagger upright; shield argent, anchor with snake, below a fess with central mullet between two crescents dexter in small canto, a hand/gauntlet} (repairs).
WEAPONS AND MILITARIA - A good Mughal dagger, the pale grey-green jade hilt with scroll terminals and gold tendrils and flowerheads set with foiled rubies, the curved blued steel blade decorated with Koftgari flowers arranged in shaped panels, blade 10in long, 15.5in overall, early 19th century
A rare late-18th century Temple with Panel pattern Argyll, of coffee pot form with a long slender spout, angular handle, pedestal foot and domed cover, the interior with an integral hot-water chamber, printed in blue with a version of the chinoiserie landscape and a dagger border, overall height 16.2cm, unmarked, circa 1780-1800 (hair cracks in body and foot, small chip to edge of cover, cover for inner container missing)
