WORLD COINS, India, Princely States, Kutch, Bharmalji I (1586-1632), Silver Kori, in the name of the Mughal Emperor, Jahangir, AH 1028. Very fine and extremely rare, especially with clear date. When Jahangir paid his first visit to Gujarat, Bharmalji went to Ahmadabad to pay his respects. The rao presented Jahangir with 2000 Rupees, 100 Ashrafis and 100 Kutch horses. In return, Jahangir gave him his own horse, an elephant, a dagger, a sword and diamond rings, and also accorded him the privilege of issuing in his own territory his own coins. Whether this issue of Koris dated AH 1028 was part of the 2000 Rupees presented to the Emperor or was struck soon after the meeting is not clear.
