The heroine shows her breasts uncovered while her shoulders covered by a drapery, and she presses a dagger against her chest. This subject becomes particularly appreciated during the Renaissance becoming the emblem of conjugal virtuosity and sacrifice. A South Indian dagger (khanjar) early 20th century, with recurving double-edged blade, bone grip with punched decoration, flared horn pommel and steel guard, 11in. (28cm.) long, lacks scabbard, faults; together with a Syrian Khanjar with inlaid bone, MOP and ebony grip, with brass scabbard; and two kukris, both in poor condition. (4) *South Indian khanjar: Lacks scabbard. Tip of blade bent, surface rust.
