dating: 1933-45 provenance: Kingdom of Italy, Silver grip, embossed and chiselled with oak branches, gold fasces, cross-bar ending with acorns, silver scabbard with two bands, embossed with laurel branches and chape with round button, cruciform blade with dedication engraved in block letters ”L’IMPERO ALLE CAMICIE NERE DELLA M.V.S.N.'. The dagger follows the shapes of the mod. 1925 of M.V.S.N. later adopted until 1935 by the Musketeers of the Duce. Significant and interesting is the dedication with which the leaders of the Voluntary National Security Militia claim the decisive participation of the armed arm of Fascism in the conquest of the Empire. The fascist regime of Benito Mussolini, which came to power after the world war, manifested its intention to expand the possessions of the kingdom and satisfy the demands of the irredentists. In 1934 Cyrenaica and Tripolitania were united in Italian Libya; with the war of 1935-36 Italy conquered Ethiopia, which was united with Eritrea and Somalia to give birth to Italian East Africa. On this occasion Victor Emmanuel III of Italy assumed the imperial title of Ethiopia and the birth of the Italian Empire was officially proclaimed (1936-1943). length 32 cm.
