A fine Holland and Holland 12 Bore double barrel ejector shotgun with 71cm barrels numbered 14948, 'Sleeved' and with various other marks, the barrels non-original. The side lock hammerless action finely engraved Holland and Holland amongst tightly scrolling foliage, further numbered 14948 and with various other marks, with a sliding safety and twin triggers. On a finely cross hatched walnut stock. 112cm overall.Some additional information and measurements:This gun has also been restocked, but this has been done very well with the correct diamond grip. It seems that the sleeving was undertaken by Westley Richards c.1970. The gun is a Royal Hammerless Ejector with cross bolt c.1890.Stock length 13 7/8 inches.26 thou wall thickness on both barrels.731/731 internal barrel size.Barrels are clean but very slightly rivelled to the right barrel.Choke 15 points on right, 25 on left. Chamber size 2 1/2.Ribs sound, the gun is tight on face and the original rib was retained when sleeved.The purchaser of this lot must have a valid license.*CR: Non-original barrels. An unusual silver Battle of Jutland brooch in the form of a fouled anchor with a shield and Naval Crown 'H.M.S. Neptune, Jutland, Battle, May 31st 1916. Hallmarked for Birmingham 1917. 4 x 2.5cm. H.M.S. Neptune was similar to the Dreadnought class battleship, she fought with the 5th Division of the Grand Fleet at Jutland under Rear Admiral Gaunt. During the battle she fired 48 12" shells scoring several hits on SMS Lutzow. The Neptune suffered no casualties or damage. *CR: Toned. *BP 22.5% (18.75% plus VAT) plus a lot fee of £8 inc. A commemorative bronze medal celebrating Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee in 1887, the obverse with Crowned and veiled bust l. 'Victoria Regina Et Imperatrix' the bust signed J.E.B. for J.E. Boehm. The reverse an enthroned figure of Empire flanked by many attendants and above shields for Asia, America, Europe, Australasia and Africa, signed F.L. for F. Leighton. A sword with an 81cm pointed tapering fullered blade with sharpened edge, the blade with engraved decoration of early form GR cypher to either side and military trophies. The slender handle and guard with scroll work to the side ring. With leather scabbard with three mounts and twin ring suspension. 98cm overall length. With an 83cm tapering pointed blade with single short fuller, the blade lightly engraved with GR monogram beneath a Crown, Royal Coat of Arms (1801-1816 period), tarlton pattern helmet and other military trophies, named for 'Gibson's Thompson and Craig Warranted'. With a gilt hilt with shell guard, cross bar and silver wound wire effect grip, and light 'D' shaped bow. 102cm overall length. A fine sporting gun by Gulley of London. With a 98cm Damascus smooth-bore barrel with gold breech bands at the octagonal section, and an inset label 'Gulley London', with ramrod mounted below. The decorative flintlock action with 'S' shaped hammer, gilt pan and decorative detailing, with roller bearing, the side-plate signed 'Gulley'. The elaborate trigger guard with pineapple terminal, gun dog and sunburst motif. The finely cross-hatched walnut stock inlaid with a small gold oval engraved with the previous owners initials and crest, with raised cheek piece. 140cm overall. Gulley appears to be Joseph Gulley of 252 Oxford Street who were makers of very fine guns of this type. *CR: Light marks from use and age, a nice example in pleasing condition.
