BADEN-POWELL ROBERT: (1857-1941) British Lieutenant General, founder of the Scout movement. Autograph Manuscript Signed, with his initials BP, two pages, 4to, n.p. (Kenya), n.d. (1939). The manuscript, titled Summary of Lord B-P`s case, is a medical diagnosis, in part, `My reason for being in Kenya is, on doctor`s advice, to avoid work owing to "tired heart". My scalp has had a skin ailment for the past two years, resulting from an abrasion through entering a low roofed car. Left leg has suffered from irritant sore spots for the past 18 months. Before leaving England 28 Oct 38 Dr. H. Davis applied X Rays to these, and also Radium to my R. eye….4 March Eczema showed itself on back and right arm. Since then it has developed on both hands and arms….Last week the irritation in both arms and leg was very great: both hands inflamed and oozing….The application of…ointment has had a soothing effect on the hands and arms, and curative effect on the scalp….In other respects I am in good health and the heart seems in good order.` Some light age wear at the folds, about VG. Baden-Powell lived his last years in Nyeri, Kenya, where he died and was buried in 1941.
