A Chinoiserie Eight Day Longcase Clock, signed Thos Carter, Bp Auckland, circa 1730, flat top pediment, side viewing windows, Oriental painted scenes depicting pagodas, figures, foliage and birds, 12-1/4-inch arched brass dial with chapter ring signed, dial centre with scroll engraving, ringed winding holes, date aperture, seconds dial, arch with lunar dial/aperture, five pillar movement with an anchor escapement and inside countwheel striking on a bell, later 18th century case, 220cm high see illustration From the Eric Morton Clock Collection19.03.20 Later case with chips in parts to the gesso, painted scenes are discoloured and faded, scuff marks and scratches, case needs restoration, dial is dirty and discoloured, movement is dirty, with two weights and a pendulum.
