Proterozoic and Archaean eras, 3,900 million years BP. A group of micro-fossils in the form of two Stromatolite blocks from South Africa. 249 grams total, 51-53mm (2"). From an old Lincoln Collection A Stromatolite is a rocky cushion-like mass formed by the unchecked growth of millions of lime-secreting blue-green bacteria. Stromatolites are found only in areas where other organisms that would normally keep down the bacterial numbers cannot survive, such as extremely salty bays. Such bacteria were abundant during the Proterozoic and Archaean eons, perhaps from as early as 3900 million years ago. [2, No Reserve] Fine condition.
An important miquelet flintlock gun of royal provenance, dating: last quarter of the 18th Century, provenance: Naples, dating: last quarter of the 18th Century, provenance: Naples, Scarce, Spanish, smooth, two-stage, 16 mm cal. barrel; first part is octagonal, marked 'Diego Esquivel En Madrid Anno de 1723' in gold between floral motifs and on stamps, gold as well; after the rings and acanthus leaves it is round, decorated in gold at the nozzle, swallow-tailed fore-sight; tang engraved, with a broad sight; beautiful miquelet flintlock, engraved, chiselled, gilded and partially pierced with floral and geometrical motifs, 'R' stamp of the Royal Factory of Naples in gold, stamped 'NIS' under the crown inside; wooden, half stock with checkered palm-rest, borders with silver thread, counter-plate decorated with dark horn snakes, bordered with silver thread, with a silver medallion signed 'Gori a Volterra'; dark horn trigger guard embossed with in-the-round mask (another one at ...) and decorated in silver, butt decorated en suite, left side with a horn 'cushion'. Silver small shield on the back with 'L I' monogram under the crown for Grand Duke Leopold I of Tuscany (from 1765 to 1790 he is the emperor of the Holy Roman Empire and King of Hungary and Bohemia from 1790 to 1792 as Leopold II of Habsburg-Lorraine). Complete with a horn-tipped, wooden ramrod., length 132 cm.

The tanzanite in the ring bears some scuffs and scratches. The chain fastens with a claw catch. The ring is stamped '750', the pendant '18CT', the chain '750' and the earrings '18CT', in our opinion all pieces would test as gold. The approximate qualities of the diamonds are; caratweight (ring) 0.75, (pendant) 0.10, colour H/I/J, clarity SI1/SI2/I1. Gross weight 26.4 grams. Condition Report made 21st September 2016
A Tanzanite and Diamond Cluster Ring, a cushion cut tanzanite in a white claw setting within a border of round brilliant cut diamonds in milgrain settings, to knife edge shoulders on a plain polished shank, total estimated diamond weight 1.60 carat approximately, finger size P see illustration The ring is in good condition. It is stamped '18CT' and in our opinion would test as gold. The tanzanite measures 9.19mm x 9.15mm x 6.9mm. The approximate qualities of the diamonds are; colour H/I, clarity SI1/SI2.
