A George III Scottish layette silk pin cushion from Culloden House, decorated with pins in depiction of the house with a flag aloft bearing the legend "Peace to Culloden", a dove of peace flying overhead, also interlocked hearts and inscription "Welcome Sweet Babe" with date May 2nd 1780, hearts and diamonds decorating the corners, 24 cm x 17 cm [Forbes' mansion house at Culloden was demolished between 1772-83. The current house was built for Arthur "7th Laird of Culloden and Ferintosh" Forbes at this time. Arthur married Sarah Stratton in 1779 and this cushion may have been made by her for her daughter Sarah Louise who was born shortly thereafter.]

A George II silver coffee potGabreil Sleath, London 1737Tapering form, hinged cushion cover with bell shape finial, leaf-capped and part fluted spout, wood scroll handle, with engraved arms for Edward MALONE (1704-1774), height 23cm, weight total 25.1oz.Footnotes:These are the arms of Edward MALONE (1704-1774) of Baronstown, Co. Westmeath, Ireland an MP in the Irish Parliament and a Judge of the Court of Common Pleas in Ireland. He was the second son of Richard MALONE (1674-1744) Esq. of Ballinshown, Co. Westmeath by Marcella MOLADY daughter Redmond MOLADY. In 1736 at Lea St Margaret, Kent he married Catherine COLLIER (1718-1774) daughter and heiress of Benjamin COLLIER of Darlaston, Staffordshire by Catherine POWELL and niece of Robert KNIGHT (1702-1772), 1st Earl Catherlough. The assay date of 1737 is confirmed by the presence of the COLLIER arms in pretence on the shield.
