Tang Dynasty, 618-906 AD. A ceramic horse on a small base with patches of mottled brown paint on the body and darker brown paint on the mane and tail; on the back seated on a saddle is the figure of a young woman in a long tunic with trousers and knee length boot, her hair is gathered into buns on either side of the head, urna on the forehead, blue vertical stripe to front of tunic, traces of orange paint to the tunic sleeves and trousers, boots painted black; towards the rear of the horse is a small dog seated on a cushion. See Xie, L. Sport in the Golden Age of China, 2013. 5 kg, 44.5 x 40cm (17 1/2 x 15 3/4"). Property of a London gentleman; acquired before 1980. Finely modelled, some restoration. Scarce.
A Fine Late 17th/Early 18th Century Fruitwood Cushion Front Chest of Drawers. The four long moulded drawers hung of side runners and fitted with brass pendant handles on petalled mounts with decoratively cast escutcheons. Standing on bracket feet 36 ins (91 cms) high, 38½ ins (98 cms) wide, 20½ ins (52 cms) deep.
Attributed to Frans van Mieris. A 17th Century Oil on Cradled Oak Panel: Three-quarter Length Portrait of an elegant lady believed to be Marie de Rabutin-Chantal, marquise de Sévigné (1626-1696), wearing a gold dress and blue sash seated on a red velvet cushion. Contained in an elaborate carved and gilded frame 20 ins x 16½ ins (51 cms x 42 cms).
An Early 18th Century Inlaid Oak Chest on Chest decorated with panels of engraved bone and mother-of-pearl on fine scrolling stems and adorned with split spindle appliqués. The upper section housing two long drawers with arcaded and cushion moulded panel fronts. The lower chest with three further drawers enclosed behind arcaded panel doors. Standing on bracket feet 50 ins (127 cms) high, 43¼ ins (110 cms) wide, 22 ins (56 cms) deep.
A gold and platinum, diamond set cluster ring, in a pierced geometric design, mounted with cushion shaped diamonds and with the principal diamond mounted at the centre, detailed 18 CT PLAT, a 15ct gold, seed pearl and red gem set ring, Chester circa 1900 and a gold and blue enamelled ring, with an initial 'K' motif.
