A George I walnut eight-day longcase clock Henry Batterson, London, circa 1720 The five finned pillar (centre latched) inside rack and bell striking movement with anchor escapement regulated by seconds pendulum, the 12 inch shallow break-arch dial with star decorated subsidiary seconds dial, leaf-bordered winding holes and hatched calendar aperture to the foliate edged matted centre within applied silvered Roman numeral chapter ring with fleur-de-lys half hour markers and Arabic five minutes to outer track, with pierced steel hands and angles applied with fine Indian mask and leafy scroll cast spandrels within herringbone border, the arch with applied silvered oval name cartouche signed Henry Battercon, Londini Fecit within serpent border and fine symmetrical foliate scroll engraved field, the walnut case with cross grain ogee moulded cornice and scroll pierced quadrant frets over three-quarter columns to the glazed hood door, the sides with arch-glazed apertures and conforming applied quarter columns against bargeboards to the rear, the trunk with concave throat moulding over rectangular herringbone banded door centred with an oval brass lenticle, the sides with two crossbanded panels, on conforming herringbone bordered plinth base with double skirt and cushion-shaped squab feet, 230cm (90.5ins) high. Henry Batterson is recorded in Loomes, Brian Clockmakers of Britain 1286-1700 as born in Waddesdon, Buckinghamshire in 1676 and apprenticed to William Davison in 1694, passing to Jonathon Puller in 1696 and gaining his freedom of the Clockmakers Company in 1701.

A rare and well engineered 7 ¼ inch gauge model of a LNWR 4-4-0 Class 'George the Fifth' tender locomotive No 5000 Coronation , believed to have been built from Bassett Lowke castings and restored by George Swift in 1989 with copper boiler replaced and fitted by Swindon Boilers. The model was totally re-built by Mr R S Hammond of Basingstoke between 1992 and 1994. It is believed the locomotive originally ran at the garden railway at Gunton. North Walsham. The silver soldered copper boiler with fittings including pressure gauge, water sight gauge with drains, regulator, direction control, safety valve, brake and other usual fittings. The chassis having twin inside cylinders 1 ¾ bore by 3 stroke with Joy valve gear, injectors and lubricating system. The model finished in black lined livery with cab-side number plate, 'Coronation' name plate and hand painted gartered crests to each side of six wheel tender. Fitted hand-rails, steps, vacuum hose, detailed rivet-work and cushion driver's seat. Total length 130cm. Boiler history: Boiler Identity No SB 107. No current boiler history available. Passed boiler history from the 1990 s to 2016 available for inspection at the auction rooms on view days. Lot 318

CEE-SPRING RALLI CAR by Windover and Son, Long Acre, London. This vehicle was built to order in the 1890s as a wedding present for Sir Henry Fairfax Lucy of Charlecote Park in Warwickshire. It was bought from the park's collection by Mr D.C. Rose of Sutton Coldfield during the 1960s and shown very successfully by him in private driving classes. On his death it was sold at Reading Carriage Sale.Built on a 72" cranked axle, it has very fine 16 spoke wheels, louvred sides and lancewood shafts. Painted dark blue, lined gold with restored navy melton trim (which reverses to all weather). The whip holder, dash and splash boards are finished in its original leather. It has its original floor mat and a foot board. The front seat is on an adjustable slide and the rear cushion folds double to accommodate the seat in slid-back position. Said to be beautifully balanced and giving a very comfortable ride when put to a 14:1/2hh horse.Labelled by Windover on the hubs and springs and with a patent mark on the drawbar.Not been used in the last ten years but has been safely stored.(B.P. 24% incl. VAT)

X 1ft. 10in. 1.00m. X 0.55m. Small cobbled repairs; losses to ends. Cf. Morehouse, B. Yastiks, Cushion Covers and Storage Bags of Anatolia, pl. 64, p. 50 and p.90 for a very similar example. (2)
