A mid-19th century walnut, kingwood and parquetry work box, rectangular form, the lid with central barbed-edge rosette in parquetry work, the lid and front with kingwood cross banding, enclosing the original wine red velvet interior with lidded compartments with silk tassel handles, letter compartment to the lid interior and storage beneath the upper lift-out tray, containing a number of 19th century sewing accessories including a Tunrbridge style tape measure, ivory counter form pin cushion and wooden wool winder with inset plaque inscribed 'Royal George Sunk 1782, raised 1840', the box 12½ x 9 7/8in. (31.75 x 25cm.), 5 3/8in. (13.6cm.) high.
