A 19th century Chinese filigree white-metal and feather fan: the guards decorated in relief with plats, leaves, berries, buildings and figures; the main feather fan decorated with four figures amongst rockwork, trees, foliage and two figures either side of a bamboo plant. (44 cm wide (opened) x 25cm high) (Some damage commensurate with age)* Condition report: The filigree whitemetal sticks are all in good condition, with no losses or damage. Both guards have a split at the bottom at the joint between the plain and decorated section - both guards have an old whitemetal plate soldered behind the guard to provide reinforcement. One guard however still has some movement in this area and the other guard has a bend to the metal above this joint. One feather is detached from the stick, and the decoration to the feathers is worn throughout, with heavier wear towards both ends of the fan and heavy losses to the guard feathers.
