A group of Chinese ceramics, 18th-19th century, including a Dehua cylindrical teapot with dragon spout and handle, 11cm high, a blue and white plate, Qianlong, with riverscape scene, 23cm dia, and a blue and white baluster vase and cover decorated with the 'prunus' pattern, 23cm high. (3)Condition report: Dehua teapot: lacking cover. Loss to handle/dragon.Plate: hairline across centre.Vase: cover probably associated and also chipped to rim. Section of vase rim broken.

A CHINESE EXPORT REVERSE-PAINTED WALL MIRROR THIRD QUARTER 18TH CENTURY In a later carved giltwood frame, in George III style, the mirror plate depicting figures in traditional dress and various animals, with a hilly river landscape beyond 96cm high, 112cm wide Provenance: The Private Collection of Sir David and Lady Scholey For a remarkably similar example of mirror with virtually identical but slightly smaller frame, see Christie's, The Collector: Live, 19th May 2021, Lot 101. Condition Report: Marks, scratches and abrasions comensurate with age and use.Old chips and splits, some wear and loss to the gilding to the frame comensurate with age and use. To the lower left corner joint of the frame there is some movement and slight seperation (see image) As noted in the catalogue description, the carved giltwood and gesso frame is of later date than the mirror plate. The carving is of a high standard and faithful to the period. It is not easy to conclude precisely how old the frame is but it may be only 40 years old. Various depletion to the mirror plate, (please refer to the catalogue images for visual reference) There is no evidence of the edge of the plate being bevelled. Where there has been some minor movement to the plate, upon close and well lit inspection approximately 20-30cm of the outermost edge of the mirror plate is visible just inside the adjacent inside edge of the frame in the top right corner of the frame The size of the visible plate only is 56.5cm high, 92cm wide. The provenance to this mirror is that it is currently being offered in behalf of The Private Collection of Sir David and Lady Scholey. There is further background to the collection on page 53 of our catalogue . Sir David has recalled purchasing this mirror circa 1960's-80's in central London.
