An Officer’s 1902-1914 era 1878 Pattern Blue Cloth Home Service Helmet to the Border Regiment, the blue cloth covered skull with white metal rose bosses, gilt brass fittings including quatre-foil mount with spike finial (spike retaining bolt missing) King’s Crown helmet plate with enamelled Chinese dragon centre and SOUTH AFRICA 1901-02 in surround and THE BORDER REGT below, the interior with leather sweat band and maker’s trade labels for R. SHELDON BAMBER LTD GLASGOW and SAMUEL BROTHERS LTDand HOBRON & SONS maker’s stamps. Silk liner and chin chain lacking, moth to peak and sides, helmet displays further helmet plate holes.
Rare early 18th century Chinese export porcelain armorial charger, circa 1730, with famille verte palette, central painted peacock and famille rose painted bird and floral reserves with coat of arms incorporated in top reserve on fine gold diaper ground - the arms - Dexter, believed for Charleston of Essex, Sinister may be for a Huguenot family - see Howard volume II, page 256 E14 - believed only three armorial services of this design, 39cm diameter. Provenance: Formerly the property of a prominent Essex family. Removed from Heath Lodge, Lexden CONDITION REPORT Good original unrestored condition. Several small rim chips and frits to underside of rim. Bright enamels and gilding. Some wear to black enamel on peacock feathers and minor rubbing elsewhere - fitted with copper wire plate hanger

A large collection of 19th Century Chinese famille-rose porcelain to include a pair of baluster shaped jars and covers, thirteen saucers, eight large cups, eight small cups and five dinner plates, together with five small Chinese porcelain salts decorated with bird amongst flowers on a green ground CONDITION REPORTS All items have some wear and scuffs. Various undulations and variations to the potting / shapes of the items. One vase cracked and large section missing from rim, both lids chipped and one with losses to dog of fo. All large cups, except 1, are damaged and have some losses. All small cups, except 2, are damaged and have some losses. All plates with some chips and 1 plate broken and rivetted, 2 plates broken and with losses, 1 plate with section missing from rim, and one plate with small chips. Saucers have some chips but are generally in reasonable order. Various designs / scenes. Colour variations - particularly to the smaller cups and saucers which are of a brighter (less muted) colour.

PThree rectangular plates - 32 x 22.5cm, all ok. Largest oval plate - 38.5 x 29.5cm , chips to rim and back edge. Pair smaller oval plates - 33 x 25.5cm, chip and crack to outside edge of one with further chip to bottom edge on back. Four smallest oval plates - 30 x 21cm, one missing a piece and cracked with nibbles to top edge, another with large crack and rivet repairs, the other two with small nibbles to rim. Large rectangular plate - 35.5 x 27cm, no chips or cracks. Two smaller plates - 27 x 19cm, one with chip to top edge, the other chipped to bottom right edges. Pair of large plates - 33 x 25.5cm, one nibbled and chipped to outer edge all round, the other chipped to top left corner.
