(3)(B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: The plate has a number of small rim chips, the bowl has hairline crack. The teapot has restoration particularly to the spout.

Manfredo Settala, first Italian edition, lacking portrait frontispiece and large folding plate, occasional spotting or light foxing, 20th century vellum-backed decorative boards, [Cicognara 3461 (Latin edition)], 8vo, Tortona, heirs of Eliseo Viola, 1666. sold not subject to return. ⁂ Catalogue of the Wunderkammer of Manfredo Settala, which was bequeathed to the Ambrosiana. It included Chinese printed books on silk and porcelain, mummies, musical instruments, tropical fish and birds of paradise.

Lot 147

A quantity of William Adams Chinese pattern blue and white wares, comprising jugs, candlesticks, cups, tankards, bowls, plates and a pickle dish, each with printed mark to the underside (20). CONDITION REPORT: The largest of the jugs has a small rim chip on the underside of the spout. One circular bowl has a rim to almost foot rim diagonal hairline crack. The large octagonal bowl has been broken in two and glued. The side plate, although having no visible crack, gives out a dull thud when lightly tapped. The square bread plate has a breakage in one corner in three places which has been glued. The large dinner plate has a small and hollow chip on the underside of the rim. All other items appear to be free from any obvious chips, cracks or restorations.

Lot 23

A Chinese porcelain plate, 20th century, hand painted with a deity in a red robe holding his rosary beads kneeling before a small deity appearing from rock work, with scrambled characters to the left and all within petal shape trellis border, spurious seal mark to the underside. 19 cm diameter. CONDITION REPORT: There is a +/- 13 cm x 1.2 cm section of restoration across the left hand side rim. The seal mark on the back and the calligraphy to the left of the figure at the front appears to be unfinished. Other than these faults the plate is sound.
