Registration No: B244 MAO Frame No: JYA47M003FA010931* Engine No: 36Y-000296 CC: 1100 MOT: July 2024Bespoke café racer based on a Yamaha FJ1100 Built using many new items, and custom paintworkSupplied with receipts, an MOT and a current V5CThe Yamaha Motor Co was formed in 1955 as the powered vehicle division of the massive Yamaha Corporation more famous for making musical instruments. The first bike produced in 1954 was the YA-1, like the BSA Bantam a copy of the German-made DKW RT125 but in typical Japanese fashion this was soon improved upon with the launch of the YA-2 in 1957. This proved to be an immediate success in sporting events, starting a long tradition of achievement that continues today in Moto GP and WSBk racing. The FJ1100 was launched in 1985 as Yamaha's entry into the musclebike sports tourer market and became famed for its durability and solid design. This 1985 model was imported from the USA in 1995 and used in standard trim until bought by the vendor in 2018. He then started a long term project to build a one off cafe racer using many new parts to create an unusual and distinctive special. The frame, swinging arm and wheels have been powder coated with the bodywork refinished in classic Yamaha's Red and White race colours together with a new speedo, tacho and switchgear. The chassis has been treated to a new pair of Avon Roadrider tyres, a front fork rebuild using Progressive springs, a new YSS rear shock, new brake disc, a full rebuild of the calipers and new chain and sprockets. The engine has been serviced and finished off with a bespoke 4 into 2 exhaust system. A labour of love, the vendor has spent a fortune and many hours to build this bike, dry stored over the winter it will need recommissioning before use. It comes supplied with some spare parts, receipts collected during the rebuild, an MOT until 6th July 2024 and a current V5C.*Please Note: The quoted frame number is the one which appears on the Yamaha’s V5C. It is no longer visible on the bike itself, likely due to paint coverage. For more information, please contact: Ian Cunningham ian.cunningham@handh.co.uk 07415871189

Lot 300

Registration No: XVV 794 Frame No: D147 Engine No: LTWZ/Z/26423/SRA CC: 1100 MOT: ExemptCreated by Ewan Cameron (JAP Expert)A ‘parts bin special’ built for usingFantastic creation using many original partsCurrent V5C on fileBy 1933 Morgan’s three-wheeler chassis could be ordered with four types of body, namely: Super Sports, Sports Two-Seater, Sports Family and Family. Interest in Morgans of this period has never waned and, if anything, increased in recent times‘Red Rusty’ was assembled approximately 8 years ago from a collection of original parts. A new wooden body was constructed using the traditional ash and tulip wood to the original Morgan patterns and construction methods. It also benefits from newly fabricated oil and petrol tanks from aluminium. Every other part of this Morgan is original and correct to the era and Morgan, we believe even the paint is still the original Morgan application. The JAP 1100cc OHV engine is the correct 60” water-cooled type with its desirable and rare twin-float carburettor and the added bonus of a modern electronic ignition ensures the performance is sufficient. The transmission, again, is the correct organ 3-speed with reverse with chain drive to the rear wheel. The unique patina and originality make this Morgan stand out from the crowd and is a hugely enjoyable and drivable Morgan. This is a truly usable car and would not disappoint its new owner and would be the talk any crowd of enthusiasts. For more information, please contact: Mike Davis mike.davis@handh.co.uk 07718 584217

Lot 212

Registration No: WWU 641J Frame No: CB500-1003494 Engine No: CB500E-1003807 CC: 500 MOT: ExemptEarly CB500 K0 model restored at great expenseFitted with a genuine Honda HM323 exhaust systemSupplied with numerous receipts and current V5CThis Honda was purchased in 2019 by a retired Engineer with over 50 years of experience who has a passion for mechanical engineering and vehicle restoration. This is the latest project from a line of restorations that include several British and Japanese motorcycles and cars. This original K0 variant had been imported from South Dakota in the USA and required a full restoration. The mileometer had just over 12,000 miles displayed which is believed to be accurate based on the fact that there was very little wear to the engine. The bike was fully stripped down and all parts were examined, restored or replaced. There is a huge library of receipts amounting to thousands of pounds from reputable retailers and Honda specialists. The renovation has been completed to the original US specification, such as retaining the slightly higher (and very comfortable) handlebars so that it remains true to its original specification (the K0 was not originally imported to the UK). After measuring the bores it was confirmed that the engine had not been bored out previously and the bores were in perfect condition. The top end was rebuilt using high quality parts including new pistons and rings and the bottom end was inspected and found to be in good order. The carburettors were stripped, ultrasonically cleaned and rebuilt using new jets and needles. The frame and its components were sent away for powder coating, the head stock bearings were replaced and forks refurbished including new seals and stanchions. The electrical system was fully overhauled and the switchgear renovated. A new battery was fitted and an Optimate lead installed to maintain the battery through the winter if the bike isn't being used. The chain and sprockets were replaced with good quality D.I.D components. All the chrome work was re-chromed at Howells of Walsall which is a business held in high regard within the classic vehicle restoration world. The wheels were refurbished with new rims and spokes and new tyres and tubes in the original sizes. The wheel bearings were replaced and brakes fully overhauled with the rear brake drum skimmed due to slight ovality. Most importantly, the vendor managed to acquire a full set of new old stock Honda HM323 exhausts at great expense which were still in the original boxes plus a new old stock petrol tank and side panels from a friend who had them in storage for a number of years. A local bodywork specialist who works for a number of British Superbike teams painted the tank and side panels in the original colour which looks beautiful especially when the sun is shining. The bike runs beautifully and has completed roughly 200 miles since restoration and is now ready to be enjoyed throughout the Summer. The vendor is planning to ride the bike to the auction venue and it comes supplied with numerous receipts and a current V5C. Lot 122

Registration No: 515 XVU Frame No: 309683 Engine No: 651402 CC: 125 MOT: ExemptExtremely original and standardIn fully working order ATCValuable accessoriesV5C for use on UK roadsThe Lambretta Li Series 1 was properly launched in April 1958. Some 7 months after the TV175 series 1 was launched. By then Innocenti had eliminated most of the engine problems that the 175 had. The Li 125 was a dramatic departure from the shaft driven LD range that had preceded it. The new enclosed chain driven engine was centrally positioned under the frame and had more power than the LD. With larger 10 inch wheels and beautifully designed panel work it was a superb scooter to ride and was instant hit. The Lambretta Li125 series 2 was launched in October 1959. Based on the successful series 1 with the obvious difference was the position of the headlight on the handlebars for better lighting when cornering. It had an engine based on the Li125 series 1 but with an increased stroke and several other small modifications all over the scooter that made it the best-selling Lambretta of all time. This very original machine was sourced according to our vendor via Rimini Lambretta Centre and was subject to a service there before being imported around 2020 into the UK. Originally licensed in Ancona, Italy the scooter is supplied with its original ‘Targa’ Italian number plate in addition to the UK license plate. During the service the scooter had a new rear shock fitted and new tyres. We are informed that even the piston is the original although it has had new rings fitted which are still not yet run in. The electrics are still on 6v points and all over the scooter one can see originality including the lights, carburettor and engine. The original paint shows no obvious signs of any touch ups and has a pleasant all over patina with a good condition front mudguard. The scooter has some valuable accessories including a Cavalli Falbo ‘pig nose’ horn cast embellisher, Cavalli fork covers and a top of the range Rimini leopard Pegasus seat. Other accessories are original hand and lever grips. The scooter comes with the steering lock key and is fitted with an aftermarket Li125 speedometer. We are informed by the vendor that the sooner rides really well and we were able to see the scooter running very well with no issues at the time of consignment. The original light switch has been damaged in storage and supplied is a genuine NOS replacement switch will be supplied with the lot. This scooter is ready to ride and enjoy on the road. Registration No: Unregistered Frame No: 150Li 576810 Engine No: 150Li 749682 CC: 150 MOT: ExemptVery originalCorrect engine and frame numbersNOVA for UK registration and all import duties paidThe Lambretta Li Series 1 was launched in April 1958. Some 7 months after the TV175 series 1 was launched. By then Innocenti had eliminated most of the engine problems that the TV175 Series 1 had. The Li150 was a dramatic departure from the shaft-driven LD range that had preceded it. The new enclosed chain driven engine was centrally positioned under the frame and had more power than the LD. With larger 10 inch wheels and beautifully designed panel work it was a superb scooter to ride and was an instant hit. Coupled with beautiful styling it is a machine hugely sought after for many years by collectors. This extremely original example is untouched except for an amateur over-paint which could be removed with solution. The scooter is extremely straight and the panels are excellent apart from the front mudguard. The extremely rare and original Covolo seat is working, with a seat catch and grab handles. Upon examination we noted that the originality is indeed impressive. The original cables appear to have never been removed. The hand levers are the correct type with the slotted cut out. All of the original rubbers are present including for the front mudguard and this could be the basis of a very smart restoration or conservation with all original and hard to find parts present and reusable. No attempt has yet been made to start her and the engine is 'locked'. For more information, please contact: Paul Diamond info@vintagescooters.co.uk 07768 313001

Lot 216

Registration No: Unregistered Frame No: Not visible Engine No: 77OB 9140 CC: 200 MOT: ExemptA rare and unusual 2 strokeRestored with good paintworkNot many left or knownCurrently no paperworkBased in Ascot, the Ambassador motorcycle firm was owned by ex-racing car and motorboat driver, Kaye Don, who was also the importer of Zundapp motorcycles and Pontiac cars. All of the motorcycles used Villiers engines and were in production from 1947 to 1964. When Kaye Don retired, all manufacturing was sold to Smokey Dawson of DMW Motorcycles in Birmingham.Missing its horns, one knee grip, rear chain guard lower section and handlebar cover, this is otherwise a nice example of the model from that year. The Ambassador Three Star Specials produced between 1959 and 1962 all featured slight variances, but this one is correct for 1961. Purchased by the vendor as a restored example for his collection. It is not known when the vendor purchased the Ambassador for the collection but has not been used since the purchase. Sadly, there is no documentation with this lot. Some recommissioning may be required before use. For more information, please contact: Mike Davis mike.davis@handh.co.uk 07718 584217

Lot 347

Registration No: MXK 447 Frame No: RC/1/10361C* Engine No: F10AB/1/8461 CC: 998 MOT: ExemptBelieved typo' error, UFM and RFM stamped 10361 but V5C shows 10381Logbook error should be able to be rectified with the help of factory recordsAdapted for touring by previous owner including fitting Craven panniersThe Vincent story began with Phil Vincent's purchase of the HRD name in 1928, initially producing bikes using proprietary engines in his own chassis. Always the innovator by the mid-30s he had developed his own 500cc single and 1000cc twin-cylinder designs that became the mainstay of production until 1955. The big v-twin was the fastest motorcycle in the world at the time and with some astute marketing become the bike everyone aspired to own. The Rapides and the Black Shadows have become some of the most desirable and iconic bikes of the era. Unfortunately, the company had to close in the late 1950s due to the high cost of manufacturing such an exclusive and high quality product. This Rapide has spent its last 12 years on the Isle of Man in a small private collection only covering around 600 miles and is now being sold to make room for other projects. It was bought by the vendor from the deceased estate of a Vincent enthusiast who after buying it in 1980 adapted the bike for serious touring use including the fitting of Amal Mk2 Concentrics, finned front brake hubs, an 8" single sided rear brake and a neat little chain oiler. If the stickers on the Craven panniers, included in the sale, are to be believed it was used extensively during his ownership for European tours. The bike has now been stood for several years and will need a good recommissioning before use but the engine turns over on the kickstarter with good compression. It comes supplied with a few old MOTs, a copy instruction manual, a continuation buff logbook and a V5C.* According to factory records Engine No. F10AB/1/8461 and Frame No. RC10361/C match a Series C Rapide that was manufactured in January 1951 and despatched to Jack Surtees Motorcycles (London). The bike is supplied with a continuation RF60 buff logbook issued in 1961 in which the handwritten frame number is unclear. The UFM and RFM are stamped 10361, which agrees with the factory records, but it looks like a typo occurred when the first V5 was granted so the DVLA has the frame number down as 10381. This error should be eminently reversible with the appropriate paperwork and help of the Vincent Owner’s Club. Registration No: XL 7808 Frame No: 2831 Engine No: 2824 CC: 350 MOT: ExemptBeautifully restored early 1920s Raleigh 2 speed Model OneMany spares including a fuel tank and most of a spare engineExtensive box file of restoration paperwork and a current V5CRaleigh is probably better known as a bicycle manufacturer, beginning production in the late 1800s but like many others they began to make powered two wheelers in the early 1900s. Sporadic production continued throughout the Pioneer period and by the 1920s they had a range of single cylinder side valve models featuring either two or three speed gearboxes and belt or chain final drive as well as a flat twin. Their machines quickly established an enviable reputation for reliability, enhanced in 1924 by Hugh Gibson's successful circuit of the British coast on a Raleigh combination and Marjorie Cottle's reverse circuit of the same route on a solo. Production continued until 1933 when the company ceased motorcycle production to concentrate on their pedal powered products. This stunningly presented 2 ¾ HP two speed belt drive Model 1 was actually recovered from a hedge in 1987 by the enthusiast vendor. As you can imagine it was in quite a state but it was extensively renovated with love and precision by the current owner, an engineer, and thoroughly enjoyed by him and his wife winning prizes at many classic events such as the Chipping Steam Fair. It is thought that very few have survived and the bike was re-registered on its original number in 2002 with the help of Michael Worthington-Williams once the restoration was complete. It comes with quite a selection of spare parts including a fuel tank, exhaust, rims, boxes of mechanical parts and what appears to be the best part of another engine as well as a pillion seat. There is also an extensive box file full of receipts and information about the rebuild together with various bits of technical information and a current V5C. Registration No: 334 XWB Frame No: 175TVS 3676 Engine No: 175TV 3785 CC: 175 MOT: ExemptThis scooter features in a full article in this months (March 2024) Scootering MagazineFully running ATC and appears well maintainedRemarkable original conditionCorrect engine and frame numbersIgnition, steering lock and toolbox keys presentOriginal ignition and carburettorV5C for use on UK roadsThe Lambretta TV175 Series 1 was launched in September 1957 and was a very different kind of scooter than all that had gone before it. It was the first scooter of the Li range and appeared some 7 months before the Li. The new 4-speed TV machine was able to reach an unprecedented 103kmh (64mph) which was a significant improvement on the 3-speed LD models which it replaced. However, the new engine was not without its problems and various changes to the design were made during its short production run to improve things. It had a large carburettor with a diaphragm and a complicated kick start arrangement. Early examples had cable adjusters on the handlebar levers. The rear suspension had a combined spring and hydraulic shock which allowed the engine to swivel silent mounts. The wheel rims had chrome edging. The rear light had a triple bulb arrangement with an orange lens either side of a red centre. The new enclosed chain driven engine had an increased capacity and the crankshaft, barrel, piston and gearbox ratio were changed. The front forks were fitted with external shock absorbers. The rear plate and fork links were redesigned to cope with the extra power. The TV175 models were fitted with a Veglia 120 km/h speedometer face and a dual seat. The ‘Lambretta’ and ‘TV175’ side panel badges were attached to the panels with small nuts as opposed to the riveted badges on the Series 1 Li panels. Often referred to as the ‘tourer’ it had a superb performance when running correctly coupled with beautiful styling and has been hugely sought after for many years by collectors. This early version example with cable lever adjusters was imported recently into the UK and is registered to enjoy immediately. She was reportedly in use on the road in Sweden up until the present and our vendor did join a local rally on it at the time of purchase riding some 50km without issue. The scooter certainly appears to be mechanically well maintained but with striking patina. The rear shock has been replaced with a correct type and the floor mats are new but we could find little else that was not original to the scooter. Used floor mats are sometimes available and would complete the entire original look. The seat is the original Aquila Continentale with a cover replaced long ago. Please see below videoOf note the original correct speedometer with chrome bezel is showing 11,694km. The scooter being largely untouched and unmodified is showing superb originality all over the machine including: Sound deadening rough in all the correct paces, lights front and rear, carburettor and fuel tap, ignition, engine and the electrics are still on 6v points. A TV series 1 in this unmodified condition, fully running with full keys and V5C is a rare and desirable machine. Registration No: 649 UYU Frame No: 1497973 Engine No: 69543122L CC: 500 MOT: ExemptA beautifully built ‘60s café racerBuilt by a genuine old rocker of the timeUsed on many Ace Café runsRunning very wellCurrent V5C on fileThe café racer originated among British motorcycle enthusiasts of the early 1960s in London. Café racers were standard production bikes that were modified by their owners and optimized for speed and handling for quick rides over short distances. Noted for its visual minimalism, a 1960s café racer would typically be an English parallel twin motorcycle with low-mounted clip-on or "Ace" handlebars with rear-set footrests. Items considered "non-essential" such as side panels, rear chain enclosures, and voluminous mudguards were replaced by lighter items, or dispensed with altogetherThis 1961 Norton café racer was built by the current owner around 6 years ago. His heart and soul have gone into creating a machine true to the era and his youth. The machine is based around a 1961 Norton slimline frame with a 500cc Dominator bottom end and a Norton Dominator 99 top-end conversion with twin carbs. There have been many upgrades on the machine during the build such as a Norton Commando clutch and alternator, twin leading-shoe brakes, ignition cut-off leaver, electronic ignition, and plenty more. The vendor has informed us that the machine is running ‘very well’ and is described as ‘quick when you want it to be’. It is being offered with a current V5C Registration Document.
