A rare early 18th century gilt brass pair case verge pocket watch with mock pendulum balance by John Moncreif/Moncrief of London, the dial with black enamel Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals for the minutes, signed to the centre of the dial, the movement signed and numbered 125, the finely engraved balance with mock pendulum, finely pierced tulips head pillars, the engraved brass case with traces of original gilding, the interior of the case stamped WG 125, possibly for William Ginn of Little Old Bayly, London. Case approximately 57mm. Together with a later brass watch chain and fobs in a wooden case.The watch is currently running and winds smoothly, the mock pendulum works well. The dial is in good condition. The cases are both in good condition commensurate with age. The hinges and catch work well. The outer case has minor dents and the engraved decoration is worn commensurate with age, traces of the original gilded finish.
