Late Period, Ca. 664-332 BCA composition amulet in the form of a wedjat-ye, or eye of horus, carved in expensive lapis lazuli, in the form of a human eye, with a suspension hole through the centre. The eye is surmounted by a later, solid 22ct gold pendant with a hoop to the top attaching to a gold chain. Lapis Lazuli was imported at vast expense from ancient Afghanistan. Ca. 1400 ADComposed of three iron plates riveted together, this helm enclosed the wearer's head. The vision was provided by a ridged, horizontal sight between the eyes for better protection. The cross-shaped hole close to the bottom edge allowed the helm to be secured to the wearer's belt or body armour by a toggled guard-chain. There are few examples still existing in collections and museums making this great helm helmet a rare and important object. This helmet was possibly crafted at large expense, for someone of importance. This helm is very similar to that worn by King Henry V at the battle of Agincourt currently displayed at Westminster Abbey. For similar see:Deutsches Historisches Museum, Berlin, Germany (Inv.Nr.
