[BARKER'S PANORAMA] A Description of the Defeat of the French Army . . . in front of Waterloo, on the 18th June, 1815; now exhibiting in Barker's Panorama, Strand, near Surrey-Street. folded plate, 12pp.; rebound recent cloth-backed marbled boards (blanks added at end) J. Adlard, printer 1816. * commencing in Edinburgh (1792), Robert Barker had opened the first purpose-built panorama in London's Leicester Square the year following; however family rivalry had caused this second one to be operating from 1801, and the (understandably) very popular Waterloo 'production' was to be viewed throughout the year of the guide's publication.
