HIBS - BRITISH ARMY 58 Hibernian home programme v British Army, 10/2/58 , postponed because of snow and used with partial update for the re-arranged game. Bobby Charlton is named in the line-up but the editorial explains that he has been replaced by Dobing due to being injured in the Munich Air Disaster. No writing. Generally good

MANCHESTER UNITED Hardback book with dust jacket, There's Only One United by Geoffrey Green, Centenary History of Manchester United comes with small signed picture of Bobby Charlton inserted on frontispiece. Comes with United programme for the match between the FA XI and The Army XI, 30/10/57 played at Old Trafford with Charlton in the Army team and Viollet and Pegg in the FA team. Programme is in very good condition and 319 page book is also good. Good
RUGBY- ENGLAND - NEW ZEALAND 45 Programme for Rugby Union game, England XV v New Zealand Army Expeditionary Force, played at Twickenham 24/11/45. The New Zealand team of 45/46 was originally drawn from serving members of the new Zealand Armed Forces in North Africa and during the tour they were reinforced by other players from New Zealand and effectively became the All Blacks albeit not officially. The All Black traditional jersey was slightly modified and the team were encouraged to call themselves the Kiwis rather than the All Blacks, at least during the early part of the tour. Military Interest, an early 19th century diamond and enamel mourning brooch, the blue enamelled navette shaped panel beneath an urn set with old cut diamonds, the reverse engraved Sir John Moore 1809, 3cm long Lieutenant-General Sir John Moore, KB, (13 November 1761 - 16 January 1809) was a British soldier and General, also known as Moore of Corunna. He is best known for his military training reforms and for his death at the Battle of Corunna, in which he defeated a French army under Marshal Soult during the Peninsular War. Moore's funeral was commemorated in the poem "The Burial of Sir John Moore after Corunna" by Charles Wolfe (1791-1823), which became popular in 19th century poetry anthologies.
FRED KORMIS [1897-1986]. Dancing Woman. bronze, unique, signed. Provenance: Willi Soukop collection; private collection, UK. 9 cm high including base. Fred [Fritz] Kormis had an interesting history, he joined the army during World War 1 and was captured by the Russians in 1915 and sent to a prison camp in Siberia - he escaped in 1921 and made his way to Germany where he resumed sculpting - before WW11 he escaped the Nazis and came to the UK where he spent the rest of his life. He is probably best known for his excellent prisoner of war memorials. [very good condition - wood base a bit discoloured with signs of glue residue]. 'Opening price' is NOT the reserve. A US .54” Model 1842 Army percussion holster pistol, 14” overall, barrel 8½” stamped at the breech “US” (faint) and “NWP”, the lock marked “US/H. Aston” and “Middtn/ Conn/ 1849” (worn), the walnut halfstock having regulation brass mounts and swivel ramrod. GWO & C (cleaned overall with some pitting to the barrel, the hammer spur crudely replaced).
