An early 20th century silver plated open face crown wind pocket watch, the circular enamel dial set with Roman numerals and subsidiary seconds, on double chain with T-bar suspending a circular case enclosing a seal, a further similar "Services" army example and a Sekonda example cast decorated with a locomotive to the back (3).

Provenance: Ernest, Brown and Phillips, The Leicester Galleries, London; Humphrey Case (Keeper of Antiquities at the Ashmolean until 1982). Exhibited: Ernest, Brown and Phillips, Exhibition of works by Lord Methuen at The Leicester Galleries, March 1947, No. 4. Humphrey Case had a very bad motorcycle accident whilst serving in the Army. He was invalidated out to Corsham Court, where he met Lord Methuen at this point and the purchase of the paintings ensued thereafter.
