A BIG SLEUTH BEARMemoirs Of ParadiseMemoirs Of Paradise Artist - Gayani Ariyaratne - This bear has travelled thousands of miles to be in Birmingham. The artist drew inspiration from her childhood memories of growing up on 'paradise island', surrounded by colourful plants and flowers. The design illuminates flora and fauna and depicts the sun's role in helping nature to flourish. Gold and blue colours represent the ancient gold and sapphire trade between Birmingham and Sri Lanka. Gayani is an artist/floral designer/chef from Sri Lanka, living in the UK for twenty two years. Having established a cookery business (with artistic flair), she is currently writing her first book of Sri Lankan cooking and preparing for her first glass painting exhibition. Her exceptional quality glass designing skills are admired by many and are particularly popular in America and France.Funds raised from the sale of the bears at auction went towards Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity who fund life-changing initiatives to make a child’s stay in hospital that bit more bear-able.Purchased at the Big Sleuth 2017 auction by Fielding's Auctioneers in Birmingham. Height approx 64 inches.
