An Art Deco sapphire and diamond ring, the central rectangular emerald cut cornflower blue sapphire weighing 5.82 carats (measuring 9.6mm x 8.1mm x 6.7mm), with round brilliant cut diamonds set to stepped shoulders, all set in platinum to a plain polished shank, ring size N, weight 6.5gms, with accompanying report from The Gem & Pearl Laboratory, report no. 21997, stating that the carat weight is 5.82 carats, that the stone is a natural sapphire, of Sri Lankan origin, shows no evidence of heat treatment. Condition Report: The central sapphire is in good order, no cracks, chips or losses. Minimum scratching and wear to the facets and facet edges. There is a surface reaching inclusion to one of the canted corners, just below the girdle. The claws are in good order, minimal wear, stone secure. All diamonds are present and in good order, no cracks, chips or losses. All diamonds appear secure. Setting shows dome scratching, general wear and tear commensurate with age and use. Shank shows some wear and tear commensurate with age and use, and signs of possible resizing, but no splitting or repair. Each diamond weighs an estimated 0.02cts, total diamond weight 0.20cts.
