1990 Ford Sierra Sapphire RS Cosworth 4x4Registration no. H741 XYCChassis no. WFOFXXGBBFLU56291Odometer Reading: TBCMoT Expiry: 10/12/2021*No-expense-spared extensive restoration*Engine seriously upgraded*First-class presentationAn urban legend if ever there was one, Ford's performance range surpassed itself with the Sierra Sapphire 4x4 – but there was always room for even more power, as this example shows. This 1990 example has an urban streetfighter air but it is important to look beyond the external appearance to the close attention to detail, whether in the bodywork's restoration or the mechanical upgrading. Our vendor says the bodyshell has been extensively restored, being stripped back to bare metal before any corroded material was cut out and replaced, And to save the next owner having to repeat the exercise the underside was coated with anti-chip and the latest rust-proofing was sued throughout. The interior features the original grey leather Recaro seats with custom-made red seat belts front and rear, and dashboard inlays feature piano-black gloss and carbon fibre. The engine's upgrading features an extensive list of new components that include a WRC Inconel exhaust manifold with IHI RX6 hybrid turbocharger, air-injection anti-lag system, Group A alloy twin fan radiator and a Thermatic electric water pump – the fluids are kept moving through Samco silicone hoses. Power delivery is through a Quaife Group N close-ration gearbox and Helix five-paddle clutch. The power hike is kept in check with adjustable Konis and Eibach lowering springs all round, steering being handled by a Mercedes-Benz electric power steering pump, and a new Group A loom handles the electrical side. With such a considered approach to restoration and improvement, this Sapphire is certain to please anyone looking for a practical, rapid and eye-catching modern classic saloon. Please click the link to view the walkaround video of this lot: click hereFootnotes:Please note the odometer reading is 7,832.Vendor Score Total: 81/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. The Ex-Sir Robert McAlpine1980 BMW 525 Auto (E12) SaloonRegistration no. MKR 293WChassis no. WBA38620004536674Odometer reading: 57,261MOT Expiry: Exempt*Low mileage E12*M30 engine*Originally owned by Sir Robert McAlpineTo view a video of this lot please click hereFootnotes:The E12 BMW 5 Series was the first generation of the company's successful executive saloon. Produced between 1972 and 1981, the E12 was also one of the first cars to debut the company's iconic 'shark nose' design that now defines BMWs of the late 20th century. This later example E12 was first registered on 13 October 1980 and is believed to have been originally owned by the construction company Sir Robert McAlpine. This is uniquely commemorated on a plaque in the engine bay that also displays the chassis number. This model, a 525, is also powered by BMW's M30 2.5-litre straight-six engine, which is famous for its smooth yet high-revving nature. The car also has a very low mileage of only 57,261 miles. There is little history with the car, however the vendor has stated that he is the fourth owner of the car after his father, who previously owned the car for over 30 years until he passed away in July 2020. Outside, the car is finished in sapphire blue metallic with a dark blue cloth interior. Both the bodywork and paintwork present well, and interior is also in a very good condition. Externally the car could be brought up to a much higher standard if desired. BMWs from this era are fast appreciating, and this is a lovely first generation example of the company's well-regarded executive saloon.Vendor Score Total: 74/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. 1972 Triumph TR6 Transmission: manualMileage:62274The Triumph TR6 was manufactured for seven years from 1969 and by the time production came to an end in July 1976, it was the best-seller of the TR range. The bodywork closely resembled that of the previous model, the Triumph TR5, but the front and rear were squared off and all TR6s featured inline six-cylinder engines. For the US market, the engine was fitted with carburettors whilst, for other world markets including the UK, the TR6 was fitted with fuel-injection. It featured a four-speed manual gearbox, independent rear suspension, rack and pinion steering, 15 wheels and tyres, pile carpet on the floors and boot, bucket seats and a full complement of instruments. Assembled on 1st November 1971 and despatched the next day to be shipped to Portland, USA on the shipping vessel ‘Bluemaster’, this lovely TR6 was originally ordered in Sapphire Blue with a black interior and hood. Whilst the interior and hood remain the same colour, having just been subject to a photo documented, frame off restoration, the vendor decided to change the cars colour to the beautiful Carmine Red it presents in today. The supplied BMI Heritage Certificate also shows that the car left the factory with several options including; laminated windscreen, tonneau cover, heater, jack, tool roll and a spare wheel. The vendor took on the restoration after the previous owner had found himself in over his head with it. Over the next year or so he completed the full frame off restoration. The chassis was blasted, primed and painted. The body was remarkably rust free and required little attention other than being painted. All the suspension components and drivetrain were either restored or replaced with new parts, with the car boasting new parts such as; suspension components, stainless steel exhaust, new Minilite wheels and tyres. Whilst rebuilding the car, the decision was made to replace the original four speed TR box with a modern five speed unit from a Toyota Supra to improve drivability and motorway cruising. The original box is included with the car should any future owner wish to convert it back. The interior was treated to many new parts as well including the dash, seats, carpets, hood, tonneau cover and even the rubbers! Having only covered around 1,200 miles since its completion, the vendor reports the car runs and drives even better than when new.Supplied with the documents required to register the car in the UK as the first owner, including the all important NOVA confirmation. Also supplied is its BMI Heritage Certificate and original gearbox, this lovely TR6 offers the chance to own a fully restored car that combines both classic thrills with modern driving convenience.       Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. 2000 Bentley Arnage (Red Label) Transmission: automaticMileage:27380Launched in 1998, the Arnage was built and designed in Crewe under BMW’s short-lived stewardship and named after a famous corner at Le Mans. The Arnage Green Label was to be all new, and featured BMW’s proven 4.4 litre V8 with the addition of twin turbos and some serious engineering input from the brains at Cosworth. The Rolls-Royce Seraph was to employ a BMW V12 engine with 349bhp and 420lb/ft, the car had impressive mid-range and low-down punch, weighed less than the outgoing model, and boasted a five-speed automatic gearbox which offered greater flexibility and much improved economy. The Arnage Red Label was launched in October 1999 with the engine reverting back to Bentley power using the traditional V8 engine and a displacement of 6750cc. As part of the modification process, both Red and Green Label cars benefitted from expanded leg room in the cabin, stiffer body shells and larger wheels and brakes. The Arnage cost over £170,000 when new in 1998 and that was before any bespoke options were considered. This excellent 2000 Bentley Arnage Red Label was supplied new in April 2000 by Jack Barclay of Barclay Square, London. Since rolling out of the showroom this car has covered only 27,400 miles from new, which is supported by the stamped service book - the most recent service being in May 2021 - and the MoT history. Finished in dark Sapphire Blue with Oatmeal leather interior, blue carpets and burr walnut dashboard and door cappings, this Arnage is supplied with all the usual refinements including rear vanity mirrors, front and rear park distance control, GPS Sat Nav system with fold away colour screen, heated seats, dual zone climate control, electric rear seats, 18” alloy wheels, cruise control, electric steering column and electric power folding mirrors. This lovely Arnage Red Label comes with a UK V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in June 2022, the Vehicle Specification sheet and the stamped up service book. Whether driving or being driven in, an example such as this Bentley provides a memorable experience and, considering the specification and mileage, it certainly appears to offer exceptional value for money given the estimate.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale.
