Lot 141

Remarkably original example of the rightly idolised whale-tail 'Cossie', on offer from passionate, 32-year, enthusiast ownership. At its introduction in 1982, the Sierra's revolutionary new shape proved a touch more divisive than Ford had anticipated and some serious marketing became a priority, so it was the obvious choice to become the platform for Ford's new competition aspirations in conjunction with Cosworth. It fitted the brief well as it was rear-wheel drive, had good aerodynamics, albeit being prone to lift at high speeds, and was available as a three-door. The new body kit and rear spoiler would sort out the lift issues but, more importantly, Ford still needed to build 5,000 units for homologation, somewhat worrying when the company's initial approach to the dealer network came back with an estimate that suggested they could sell around 1,500 units! The eventual sales record is, of course, history. Ford went on to sell 5,545 three-door cars including the RS500, of which only 500 were built, and the Cosworth engine also found its way into nearly 30,000 Ford Sierra Saloons (Cosworth three-door, Sapphire two-wheel drive, and four-wheel drive). This cherished example was first registered on 24th November 1986 and the car was subsequently sold twice in its first four years before being purchased by our enthusiast vendor, a Ford employee at the time, who has loved, cherished and maintained the car since then. Equally as impressive as the 32-year ownership is the low and warranted mileage of just 27,715, corroborated by older MOTs and service stamps in the dealer service record. Finished in Ford Motorsport Diamond White with the infamous grey cloth interior, the car presents impeccably well cosmetically and mechanically and remains in truly remarkable original condition. Many cars represent part of the family, and as a Ford technician at the time, and remaining a Ford enthusiast, it is undeniably fantastic to see such a well-maintained example, retaining its totally original specification and held on to the car for all these years, not because of any potential gain, but purely out of the love for this Cosworth. It is an incredibly special car that has always lived in the garage, being maintained and kept as pristine as possible. The car is complemented by a good history file containing the all-important original service book, service schedule and invoices for parts over the years, as well as a selection of old MOTs. Pleasingly correct and immaculately presented, this RS Cosworth comes with all the correct documentation, an impressive history file and the kudos of its FoMoCo heritage. So seldom seen in such fabulous condition with such impressive originality and a wonderful ownership story, this is one of the finest Sierra Cosworths to come to market in recent times. We are privileged to have been asked to sell a number of these ever-popular performance saloons cars and feel that, given this car’s history, low-mileage and fabulous condition, this 'Cossie' is very sensibly guided.Specification Make: FORD Model: SIERRA RS COSWORTH Year: 1986 Chassis Number: WF0EXXGBBEGB46439 Registration Number: D264 DPF Transmission: Manual Engine Number: GB46439 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 27500 Miles Make: RHD Interior Colour: Grey Charcoal ClothClick here for more details and images

Lot 142

One of just 78 examples of the Rouse Sport 304R featuring a bespoke Sport Package developed by Andy Rouse Engineering. Just 78 Rouse Sport 304Rs were produced, with only a small percentage of those thought to still exist today, making it a rare and increasingly desirable member of the Performance Ford family. The Sports Package was developed by Andy Rouse in conjunction with Ford Motor Company to provide further depth to the Ford Cosworth range, and consisted of the body kit/aero pack with a body coloured 'C' pillar, a smaller Garrett T25 Turbo and remapped ECU providing a further 40bhp, plus slightly larger tyres and an upgraded interior including Rouse seats and door cards with optional mahogany accents. At an additional cost of £4,500 plus VAT, this was not a cheap option at the time, probably dictating why so few were produced.First registered on 18th December 1990, this exceptional one-owner Sapphire Cosworth Rouse Sport 304R, No. 045/100, is thought to be one of the rarest Cosworths to still exist. Finished in its original shade of Moonstone Blue with Raven hide, it was supplied by Peacocks of Balham to the current owner. With a comprehensive restoration having been carried out by Chariots of East Sussex between 2009 and 2013, including a full engine rebuild by Julian Godfrey, the Cosworth Specialist, and with minimal use since, the overall condition remains outstanding with our fastidious vendor recently returning the vehicle to Chariots for a full health check prior to being offered for sale. It should also be noted that the registration number TIA 428 was assigned at date of first registration and will remain with the vehicle when title passes to a new custodian. It's accompanied by a comprehensive history file containing the original purchase invoice, original book pack and various other invoices. This largely ignored Cosworth model has recently come back to the attention of Ford aficionados with interest reignited and desirability increasing at a pace. With so few still in existence, and even less in this condition, this particular 304R is certainly worthy of a place in any serious Blue Oval collection. Your early inspection is welcomed and encouraged to fully appreciate the opportunity on offer.Specification Make: FORD Model: SIERRA SAPPHIRE COSWORTH 4X4 Year: 1990 Chassis Number: WFOFXXGBBFJL21274 Registration Number: TIA 428 Transmission: Manual Engine Number: LJ21274 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 79660 Miles Make: RHD Interior Colour: Raven HideClick here for more details and images

Lot 228

Part of the Cheshire Collection since 2015, less than 22,000 miles and confirmed by Ford as the last right-hand drive Sierra Cosworth to leave the production line. Very special. The Cheshire Collection is a carefully curated ensemble of modern classics that represent our vendor's enthusiasm, and are all offered on a No Reserve basis to make way for new additions to their respective collections. For nearly a decade, they have been a welcome sight at our auctions, and whilst we have appreciated their energetic bidding, we have valued their chats, enthusiast to enthusiast, just as much. Each car is special, whether it's the vastly improved 1973 Ford Escort, the last production Sierra RS Cosworth showing less than 22,000 miles, the fabulous 12,000km 'Group N' Escort Cosworth, the well-maintained Clio V6, the one-owner, low-mileage Evo VI GSR to, perhaps, the best 2005 Honda Civic Type R on the market. The original Ford Sierra RS Cosworth was the first Ford to wear the Cosworth badge and was introduced at the 1985 Geneva Motor Show as a means of homologating the Sierra for 'Group A' Touring Car racing. These regulations dictated that a minimum of 5,000 were built and sold, and eventually Ford complied, with 5,545 finding homes. Based on the three-door Sierra body shell, it was designed by Ford's Special Vehicle Engineering (SVE) and was powered by a Cosworth-designed 2-litre turbo engine of now legendary repute. The RS Cosworth used a 204bhp 2-litre DOHC engine with a Garret T3 turbocharger and intercooler enabling it to reach 62mph in 6.8 seconds and top speed of 150mph. In 1986, the Sierra Cosworth was a new kind of performance car - a blue-collar hero able to humble true sports cars.In January 1990, the third generation Sierra RS Cosworth was launched, this time with four-wheel drive. As early as 1987, Mike Moreton and Ford Motorsport had been talking about a four-wheel drive Sierra RS Cosworth that could make Ford competitive in the World Rally Championship. Ford Motorsport's desire for a 3-door 'Motorsport Special' equivalent to the original Sierra RS Cosworth was not embraced. The more discreet 4-door version was considered to have a better marketing potential, and it was therefore decided that the new car should be a natural development of the second generation, to be launched in conjunction with the facelift scheduled for the entire Sierra line in 1990.Launched to huge acclaim, the 4x4 RS Cosworth was superceded by the Mondeo in 1992, which brings us neatly to this immaculate example here. For K916 ATX has the distinction of being the last Sierra 4x4 Cosworth from the production line at Genk, as confirmed by a letter from the Operations Manager at Ford Genk, Germany. Delivered new on 2nd March 1993 to a Mr Gambling, he must have been made an attractive offer by Ford dealers Fordthorne of Cardiff, as he sold it to them on 3rd August 1993. There then followed a long period of ownership by Fordthorne, who regularly serviced and maintained the car, with detailed receipts on file, although the service book was not stamped. In 2009, the car was purchased by a Mr Bailey who kept it for some five years before he sold it to our vendor in 2015.The car presents immaculately today. The unmarked and rare Mallard Green paintwork gleams and the black leather Recaro seats show little, if any, signs of wear, understandably for a car showing just 20,335 miles. This figure is backed up by every MOT except one (from 1999), which we believe was due to the car being off the road, pre the days of SORN and therefore not showing on any records. In preparation for the sale, the car was fitted with brand new discs and pads all round, a new timing belt, full service, fuel filter and a brand-new OE-exhaust and flew through its most recent MOT which is valid until 15th October 2024.Most final production models are retained by the manufacturer and any low-mileage Sierra RS Cosworth is special, but there is only one right-hand car that can genuinely be called the 'last one'.Specification Make: FORD Model: SIERRA SAPPHIRE RS COSWORTH 4X4 Year: 1993 Chassis Number: WF0FXXGBBFNS98109 Registration Number: K916ATX Transmission: Manual Engine Number: NS98109 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 21335 Miles Make: RHD Interior Colour: Black LeatherClick here for more details and images
