Jack Lapper, mounted jointly in velvet lined glazed display case, including ‘Victory’ & ‘War Service 1914-1918’ medals, together with a group of military cap-badges and uniform insignia of the Great War period, and a framed embroidered silk-work sampler to the Manchester Regiment dated 1914 to 1920, depicting regimental flags and highlighting major battles and campaigns including Mons, Le Cateau, Marne, Aisne, Ypres, Somme, Hindenburg Line, Rhine & Mesopotamia, etc. (-)

A George III needlework sampler by James Eleanora Brown, October 13th 1795, worked with an alphabet and numbers and `There is nothing of so much worth as a mind well instructed.`, 8.25 x 12.25in (21 x 31cm), in a later glazed frame. Repairs. Provenance: Bought from Anthony Scaramanga Antiques, Witney, Oxfordshire in 1979.
A late George III needlework sampler, by Mary Ann Chappell, 1819, worked with alphabets, numbers, flowers, birds and a verse, 11.75 x 11.5in (30 x 29cm) in a later glazed frame. Moth damage, some rippling and discolouration. Provenance: Lot 552, 19th June 1991, Neal Sons & Fletcher, Woodbridge, Suffolk.
