A needlework sampler, c.1830, worked by Emma Forster, with alphabets, numberwork, a verse, crouching stags, flowers in urns, dogs, cats and two panels of baskets of fruit amongst birds perched in trees, inscribed verso 'Emma Forster, daughter of John and Lucy Forster, born September 5th 1823, died January 17th 1856, buried in vault, Rosary Cemetery, Norwich', 30cm square CONDITION REPORT: Colours bright. No obvious major faults.

XX, Moses and King Herod, 32 x 31cm, in a carved giltwood frame CONDITION REPORT: Loss of background in places, especially round margins. A late 18th Century gold and enamelled pair cased open-faced pocket watch, the gilt fusee movement with verge escapement and urn engraved and scroll pierced balance cock, the back plate inscribed `J & J: Jackson, London 9909`, the enamelled dial with Roman hour and Arabic minutes, the gold outer case back enamelled with a seated lady, a lamb resting on her lap, in a woodland setting, within a white beaded border framed by red enamel, and a surround of green enamelled circles centred by white beads, the inner case London 1782, the outer case part marked and lined with a needlework watch case sampler, outer case diameter 4.7cm (some faults).

A 19th century needlework sampler incorporating a cottage, flowers, alphabet, etc, and dated 1831, with initials AKA, 42 x 22 cm in burrwood style frame and gilt slip, a further cross stitch sampler in red thread with initials KK and dated 1909, 40 x 37 cm in wooden frame and a collection of Cash`s embroidered pictures including The Rocket 1830, A Street Scene 1842, hunting scenes, military, equestrian figures, etc together with three First World War embroidered silk postcards (in one frame)
*Embroidered map. A Map of England and Wales done at Miss PowellÕs Boarding School Plymouth by S. Shepherd, 1788, map of England, Wales, and part of Scotland finely worked in cross stitch on linen, in blue, pink, black, yellow, white, and green silks, the map divided into counties and showing principal towns, top right corner with cross stitch title within satin stitch floral border, toned, some sl. wear to lower corners, 63.5 x 51cm (25 x 20ins), framed and glazed. The V&A holds a similar sampler embroidered by a pupil at Miss PowellÕs Boarding School, by an Elizabeth Hawkins in 1797, and showing Europe. These map samplers commonly have hand-drawn or traced outlines and were prepared by the teacher or governess in most cases. Maps of England and Wales or Europe were two of the most popular choices, but the range of possibilities was wide; a pupil might choose to depict as local an area as the field layout of a nearby estate, or as wide an area as the solar system. More complex maps such as the two hemispheres were usually undertaken on printed grounds, although generally left with blank borders to allow for individual customisation. (1)
A framed early 19th Century sampler, by Mary Ann Saggers, with floral border with satin stitch roses to corner, with birds amongst tulips, floral bouquet to centre, with cartouche to centre with name and insribed `Done At Mrs Durandeaus 1825` flanked by two butterflies with manor house below, in a burr maple and gilt frame, approx. 60cm high by 56cm wide.

Needlework picture - 27.5 x 22 cm Paper backing discoloured, stained and holed, some fading to stitching.
