Georgian Cross Stitch Sampler Dated 1746 Small rectangular sampler with upper and lower case alphabet and cross stitch repeated floral motifs in blue, red, cream and green silks with whitework borders. Embroidered quotation to bottom quarter reads ' If all men hear would live in mutual love this world would much resemble that above' Signed and dated to bottom in whitework stitching, on closer inspection reads' Eliza Saxhey wrought this in 1746 and in the ninth year of her age. Framed under glass in what appears to be a period frame, the sampler has some areas of fading and deterioration to top centre and around the edges. Approx dimensions, 7 x 11.5 inches.
