Early 19th century silk embroidered sampler by Margaret Strickland aged 15(?), 1827, depicting Adam and Eve, a house, various animals, birds and butterflies, a sailing ship and vases of flowers, with verse and floral border, on silk or fine muslin ground. Very discoloured, some damages. 53cm x 53cm.

Seven assorted samplers, to include a pair of memorial samplers, one in the memory of Peter Aldred who died October 4th 1842 aged 14 years, worked by Sarah Aldred aged 8 years, the other in memory of Mary Aldred who died March 12th 1850 aged 47 years, worked by Ann Aldred 1852, a pictorial sampler with alphabet and numbers worked by Ann Aldred, a number and alphabet sampler worked by Betty Ainsworth 1798 and three others. The pair approximately 29 cm x 28.5 cm, the smallest 19.5 cm x 17.5 cm.
A pictorial and verse sampler, worked by Sarah Graham in the year 1860, with alphabet and numbers above a pictorial banner with flowers and ships and to the centre a verse "Jesus permit thy gracious name to stand..." above fruiting trees and all within a running foliate border, mounted within a period frame with gilt slip, 51 cm x 48.5 cm.
