A needlework sampler 19th century work with a tree of life vase of blooms within a strawberry pattern border framed. 33 x 41 cm CONDITION REPORT: Colours bright, no tears or moth, minor tear to the bottom right hand corner, very minor, some stretching top left hand corner otherwise good condition.
A collection of three early 19th Century samplers, the first of square form, named and dated with text 'Dina Bond, 1833', set amongst line of alphabet, numbers, and floral designs, set within a carved mahogany frame, 33.5cm x 34.5cm, the second sampler named and dated Hannah White, 1831, embroidered with twelve lines of prose amidst embroidered floral designs, and set within a carved mahogany frame, 44.5cm x 47cm, together with a 19th Century embroidered sampler, the textile of square form embroidered with nine lines of text, above embroidered depiction of mother and child and further embroidered motifs including baskets of flowers, set within a single red flower stem border, mounted in carved mahaogany frame, 59cm x 57.5cm (3)
An early 19th Century embroidered sampler, of rectangular form, the central field embroidered with twelve lines of religious prose, and signed and dated Mary Ann Abrahm Lofthous, 1818, set within alphabet, number and foliate borders, the lower section embroidered with birds perched in flowering branches, set within a walnut frame, embroidery 49cm x 66cm, in frame 63cm x 81cm.
An early 19th century sampler, by Margaret Campbell Douglas in the sixth year of her age 1807, with alphabet, numerals and stylised motifs, 41.5 x 33 cm Condition report Report by NG Backing cloth discoloured and grubby. Some fraying to threads. Some light fading. Some veneer missing from rosewood frame and some lifting. Other knocks and bumps.
An early 19th century sampler, by Lindsay Douglas, her work finished June 30th 1802 Aged 10 years Linkfield House, with alphabet, numerals, prose and stylised floral motifs, 31 x 27 cm Condition report Report by NG Backing cloth discoloured and grubby, several threadbare patches. Some fading. Staining. Minor losses to thread work. Rosewood frame with a couple of heavy scratches and knocks to edges.
A 19th century needlework sampler "Allis Williams's work 1836", a 19th century needlework sampler "Mary Ann Afford, Huntingdon, 1815", and a 19th century needlework sampler "William Joiner died January 12th 1833 aged 47 years June 1842" (3) CONDITION REPORTS Allis Williams's needlework- stained throughout, has holes/losses especially to bottom edge, some loss of colour. Mar Ann Afford needlework - has discolouration, small holes all over William Joiner - has areas of discolouration, staining and small holes all over. All have wear etc conducive with age use, all are pinned to back boards, all frames are very scuffed, worn etc. See images for more details
An early 19th century needlework sampler demonstrating embroidery designs and depicting floral spray tied with ribbon and "SG 1809", a 19th century needlework sampler "Elizabeth Glovers Sampler Oct 3 1831", and a 19th century alphabet sampler "Milnthorpe December 1877" (3) CONDITION REPORTS Floral sampler appears to be very finely worked particularly to the square embroidery patterns, appears to be stitched on a linen type fabric which is quite yellowed and has stains, fading and some wear and holes, generally overall with some wear and a few nicks, holes and a few loose threads, size approx.30 x 32 cm, overall stitched in extremely fine small detail although the outline stitching to the flower design to centre is much more loosely stitched with large longstitch sytle borders to the flowers, leaves, ribbon and stems (please see photos for examples). Multi-coloured alphabet sampler appears to be worked in quite thick wool, has general wear, dirt and some stains. Elizabeth Glover's sampler has dirt, stains, fading and wear, also appears to be worked in fairly thick thread/wool (although a much thinner thread/wool than the mlulti-coloured alphabet sampler) and also has some fading
Early 18th century sampler in silk threads, cross and satin stitch on an open weave silk cloth, edged by a silk braid, two deer flanking a crown with birds, animals and figures by Jesus on the Cross with tulip and rose and geometric panels, alphabet and dated 1737, oak frame, the textile 24cm x 30cm
Elkington & Co Silver Plated Condiment Cruet Set, 1892. Six cut crystal bottles: 2 casters with detachable silver plated tops (height: 17cm / 6.7in). 2 crystal bottles with cut crystal stoppers (18cm / 7in). A mustard pot with silver plated hinged cover and neck (13cm / 5.12in). A small bottle with a detachable silver plated sampler (15cm / 6.1in). Marked. The rectangular stand is centered with a stylized carrying handle, four stylized supports, foliate ornaments. Stand measures: 13cm X 18cm / 5.12in X 7in. Stand`s height: 25cm / 9.84in.
