1993 Saab 900 S Aero LPT T7 Converted by Abbott RacingMake: SaabModel: 900 S Aero TurboYear: 1993Mileage: 149032VIN: YS3AD35S3P2014079Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: L941GJDTransmission: manualThose who know Saabs will appreciate that any car that has been tweaked by Abbott Racing Motorsport is something a little special. This is one such Saab. Starting life in 1993 (right at the end of the original 900 model's production run) as a low pressure turbo (LPT) 900 S , it was modified by Abbot Racing with a T7 upgrade prior to its first sale - with just nine miles on its clock. The T7 kit included Abbott's 'Chargecooler', intercooler, a stiffer spring in the wastegate, and a reprogrammed ECU, giving 175bhp (instead of the standard 145bhp), no turbo lag, and no compromise in drivability. There were four previous owners - one being a Saab enthusiast who had it for 17 years followed by a marque specialist - before the current vendor, who acquired it in 2016. Under his custodianship, the car has had new headlining, clutch, radiator and some light restoration and welding to the offside front wing, plus refurbished three-spoke alloy wheels. New drive belts and ball joints are also recent additions. The history folder contains most MoTs back to 1996, which confirm the current mileage of 149,000 miles, as well as a range of invoices, with the bulk from 2016 onwards. These include servicing every year from 2016 to 2020. There's also a bodywork and paint accident repair certificate for front end damage dating from 1998, as well as the Saab leather owner's pack. This contains the quick reference guide, owner's manual, fully stamped-up service book - showing the most recent service during November 2020 at 148,190 miles - and other Saab literature. In addition, there's an Abbott Racing Motorsport booklet detailing the T7 upgrade and an Abbott card confirming the conversion in August 1993 at nine miles. Spare keys are also included. Exterior and interior condition is very good, making this a fine example of its type with, of course, its desirable Abbott tuning mods (and a discreet badge on the rear hatch to let other enthusiasts know that this is more than just a stock 900 S LPT).

1938 Ariel Square Four 997cc CombinationReg. no. CFM 841Frame no. P1092 the prefix ‘P’ is for rigid frameEngine no. DD 1052 the prefix ‘DD’ is for year 1938Although originally launched as a 500, the Edward Turner designed Square Four was soon enlarged to 601cc to compete in the lucrative sidecar market. In the 1930s this bike was the height of most riders ambitions as it was a luxury purchase for the lucky few who could afford it. This continued until 1937 when to overcome the overheating issues the rather fragile OHC engine was completely redesigned as a stronger more reliable OHV 996cc unit. The new Model 4G made the ‘Squariel’ a very enticing prospect for the sidecar enthusiasts.Condition - This beautiful bike was first registered on the 1st April 1938 and has been in the same family ownership for the last 47 years. Fully restored around ten years ago to a very high standard by the knowledgeable and highly skilled owner, the bike has had little use since, although it has been fully maintained throughout and started regularly and still looks fantastic. Fitted with electronic ignition, the bike starts easily and runs well with everything appearing to work as it should. The buff log book for 1946 shows its taxation class was ‘Motorcycle and Sidecar’ and still has one fitted today in the form of a fully restored Launch type sidecar.Comes with - A current V5C, three buff log books, tax discs going back to 1943, an owner’s guide and a spares manual plus a comprehensive folder of restoration receipts and other documents.

Cesare Roccheggiani (Italian, active second half 19th century): A pair of late 19th century 'Grand Tour' framed topographical micro mosaic circular panels depicting views of St Peters Square and The Forumthe former showing St Peter's Basilica in Rome, a number of paired figures in the middle-ground, a rooftop scene in the immediate foreground, the latter showing the Forum, depicting the Temple of Vespasian and Titus between the Arch of Septimius Severus and the Temple of Saturn, with a couple depicted to the bottom left, the views mounted within moulded black marble borders and set within contemporary gilt bronze foliate scroll pierced frames, the rear of each frame with original green silk covered backing with gilt tooled trophy makers marks, stamped G ROCCHEGGIANI, ROMA,, 33.2cm diameter overall (2)Footnotes:As a member of a well-known family dynasty of master mosaicists, Cesare Roccheggiani had a reputation as one of the most accomplished artists in the city of Rome in the second half of the 19th century. Probably related to Lorenzo Roccheggiani, a late 18th century mosaicist at the Vatican workshop, whose work included the altarpiece, Crucifixion of St. Peter after Guido Reni, he may have also been related to Nicolo Roccheggiani, who was most likely Lorenzo's son who was also another principle artist at the Vatican although at a slightly later date.Previously thought to have been active in the Vatican Mosaic Workshop in the period 1856 to 1864, little was known of the Ceasre Roccheggiani before he established his own independent atelier, first at 125 via Babuino and then by 1874 at 14-15 Via Condotti near the Piazza di Spagna. However, more recent research and examination of Roccheggiani's mosaics suggest that the artist and craftsman may have worked in the atelier of Michelangelo Barberi given that he was strongly influenced by Barberi's style of work and in some cases directly copied some of his own compositions ( the famous 'Rome by Night and Day' being one of these works). After Barberi's death in 1867, his studio continued under the direction of his daughter, Isabella Barberi but was last listed in 1873 which coincidently is actually the year before Roccheggiani first opened his own business. In the mid 19th century there were nearly one hundred mosaicists operating in Rome, many from small workshops with the majority of their output manufactured solely for the burgeoning tourist trade. However the diverse range of pieces produced in large quantities were generally of a small scale comprising small plaques, miniatures and cameos. By comparison the very best studios such as Cesare Roccheggiani's usually produced more substantial or finer micro mosaics in much smaller quantities. These magnificent and costly works however remained the preserve of the rich and powerful and many of the works, often produced by the Vatican workshop were either gifted by visiting aristocrats, given as diplomatic gifts, commissioned by monarchs or displayed at the major international exhibitions such as the Great Exhibition of 1851.A contemporary photograph of Roccheggiani's shop front illustrates the extensive range of mosaics that his company offered and a guide book to Rome lists him as a supplier of mosaic pictures, tables, cabinets, paper weights and gold ornaments (Murray, 1899, p. 22). Of these works, his table tops and large scale pictures were perhaps the most expensive pieces and were acquired by wealthy and prestigious clients and and displayed at the international exhibitions which were very much a feature of the late 19th century. Roccheggiani's mosaics was exhibited at the 1876 Centennial International Exhibition at Philadelphia and at the 1880 Melbourne International Exhibition and his standing was such that he served as a committee member for The Italian Exhibition in London in 1888.Examples of his work in museums in the UK include an étagère with mosaics in the Gilbert Collection, Victoria and Albert Museum, and a necklace in the British Museum, London (Gabriel, 2000, no. 59; Gere, 1984, no. 966)..For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com

Amongst the many reports there is an obituary for a Lance Corporal William Broadfield of Ladywood, Birmingham who died of his wounds on 9th August 1918; is it possible that this bear has something to do with this family? If only this bear could tell us. But she had not 2/6 which was his price, a lot of money to her. But luckily she was staying with a kind cousin, who heard about the lovely Teddy and promptly produced the half-crown much to her mother’s dismay! So she was taken the next day to the shop and Johnny Teddy Bear came to his new home in Cornwall! He had 11 brothers & sisters and was never lonely again. They had bear tea parties on the lawn and went climbing the rhododendron bushes with their owner and had many happy adventures. Now he is 84 years old (believed to bought circa 1911) so he likes a quiet life and I am sure he will be happy!" (48.5cm.) high (most of bear’s muzzle replaced, ears chewed and a few small bald spots); and ‘Wowie’ a British white terrier nightdress case with black mohair ears with zipper down back - sold with two letters from Esme Arwall, a reprint of a photograph of Susan and the Steiff bear when she was a toddler circa 1907, two photographs of Esme in later life with Teddy and Sue Pearson during the handing over of the Three; a Christmas card sent to Old Ted from Esme later the same year - Old Ted was originally given to Susan who is seen sitting with him in the photograph, sadly she died shortly after this photo was taken and then was looked after by Esme who was born in 1909. She grew up in the Liverpool area and Old Ted was a lifelong companion. Even during World War Two, when Liverpool was heavily bombed, Old Ted was a great comfort for the frightened children in the shelter. It was during World War Two that the Farnell and Wowie were added to the group, Esme’s neighbour David was called up and joined the R.A.F., one day he came to Esme’s house on his motorbike bring this bear and asked Esme to look after him, sadly he was killed on a raid over Germany and Esme had kept the three together until she trusted them to Sue Pearson’s care. There is some confusion over some of Esme’s story, as during the war, Esme would have been 29 to 35 and if this Farnell bear was David’s as a child he would have been too young to fight in the war, I wonder if he as a teenager had a bit of a crush on Esme and decided to buy her a bear as love token? - the story of The Three Musketeers appears on pages 18, 19 and 145 of A Collector’s Guide to Bears and Bears by Sue Pearson; and comes with a copy of the second book
