Richard Fleischer's 1960s sci-fi adventure, The Fantastic Voyage, was highly commended for its use of special effects that still hold up today. Many believe that the film was based on the novel by Isaac Asimov. However, the book was actually a novelisation of the screenplay but was released before the film was finished. Offered here is a rich and striking artwork by Tom Beauvais illustrating the dangerous journey of miniaturised scientists through the human body. The auction will begin at 2:00PM GMT and lots are sold sequentially via live auctioneer; tune in to the live streaming broadcast on auction day to follow the pace. An enigma for James Bond poster collectors as this'£1,000 Reward' style poster was never featured in the British press campaign book and is the first time we have offered one for auction. We believe it was a marketing piece a provincial cinema chain used to promote the first Bond movie, Dr. No, in 1962. There is no mention of actors, just the hero - James Bond 007 and the villain - Dr. No. Being rolled (as issued), it presents very well, with only scattered pin-sized staple holes in the corner areas. Having never seen another one, the scarcity of this poster cannot be underestimated. When a British and a Russian submarine disappear, Agent 007 (Roger Moore) is called in to investigate in The Spy Who Loved Me (1977). Cubby Broccoli wanted this to be the "BIGGEST Bond of All", and it certainly lived up to the billing, from the massive purpose-built 007 soundstages at Pinewood (still very much in use today) to the marketing campaign, which was the first time to feature the talents of movie poster legend Bob Peak. His colourful, detailed imagery followed an art-nouveau style in a futuristic setting and very much set the film's tone. From huge submarines to a Lotus Esprit sports car that converts to a submersible, all are on full display with this country of origin UK Quad. Completing the lot is an Exhibitors' Campaign Book.40" x 30" (101 x 76 cm) & 15" x 9.75" (38 x 25 cm)Additional Information: Printed in England by Lonsdale & Bartholomew Ltd. YELLOW SUBMARINE (1968) - Dark Hall Mansion Archive: Signed and Hand-Numbered Limited Edition Print by Alex Ross, 2015Bidding for this lot will end on Thursday 8th February. The auction will begin at 2:00PM GMT and lots are sold sequentially via live auctioneer; tune in to the live streaming broadcast on auction day to follow the pace. Working with Apple Corps Ltd and Bravado International, Dark Hall Mansion released this officially licensed The Beatles print by comic book artist Alex Ross in 2015. This detailed artwork is inspired by the beloved 1968 animated film Yellow Submarine. The lifelike-painted depictions of The Fab Four are incredible, and this example is a regular edition hand-numbered #57/295 and signed by the artist. Ross said this about Yellow Submarine and working on the project: "For as long as I can remember hearing music, I have loved the Beatles. Not only do I believe they are the greatest musical group of all time, but also one of the greatest things to have happened in human history. "Yellow Submarine" has also been one of my favourite films since I was six years old. The opportunity to work with the Beatles' likenesses in the very inspired context of the "Yellow Submarine" film is an absolute dream come true. There is so much I love about these men, their legacy, and this film". Provenance: This lot originates from the Dark Hall Mansion archive. Beginning in 2011, Dark Hall Mansion had established itself as one of the leading names in offering creative and in-demand alternative movie posters. Over the years, they released an array of poster designs created by leading and established artists who produced imaginative interpretations of cinema, music and more. Most importantly, their releases were officially licensed by the film, television, and music brands they worked with, making their posters part of the official collecting legacies of these classic titles.71" x 19" (180 x 48 cm)Additional Information: Signed and Hand-Numbered #57/295Condition: Near Mint+Artist: Alex Ross£100 - 200VAT Status: ΩClick here for our Poster Auction Grading Guide

Coryate (?1577-1617) studied at Oxford without taking a degree and ended up at the court of James I, where he gained considerable popularity as a wit and buffoon. He used money inherited from his father to travel, setting off in 1608 and visiting some 45 cities in 7 countries in 5 months on foot, by cart, boat and horse. It is reckoned he covered almost 2,000 miles, over half of which was accomplished in one pair of shoes, mended only once and, on his return, hung up in the church at Odcombe in Somerset (his place of birth) , where they remained for over a century. Despite his achievements, he found it difficult to get the account of his journeys published and so appealed to all he knew to write commendatory verses about himself and the book. Among the more than 60 contributors of mock-heroic verse were Ben Jonson (acrostic on b4) , John Donne, Inigo Jones, George Chapman and Michael Drayton. Provenance: Boies Penrose II (bookplate)
