1968 Lancia Flaminia 3B (2.8 Litre) Transmission: manualMileage:92446The Flaminia Coupé was introduced at the Turin Motor show in 1958, nearly two years after the saloon. The styling was based on the Aurelia Florida designed by Battista Pininfarina and considered by many to be his most influential design, it was also his personal favourite and he drove one for the rest of his life. Flaminia initially had a single 'carburetted' much modified version of the Aurelia all alloy V6, with drum brakes but disc brakes replaced the drums early on. Triple carburettors replaced the single in 1962 and the Flaminia became the Flaminia 3B, the power went from 119 to 130bhp, in 1963 the engine was enlarged to 2.8 and the power was raised to 136bhp. The suspension consists of unequal length double wishbones with coil springs at the front and a De Dion axle at the rear, based on the all-conquering D50, this combined with 50/50 weight distribution due to having the engine at the front, gearbox and differential (transaxle) at the rear, made for excellent handling with light and direct steering. This very good, left hand drive, Lancia Flaminia 3B with the V6, 2.8 Litre engine is believed to have been delivered to the Dominican Republic in 1968, then being registered in Belgium in the early 1970's. Purchased and imported to the UK in 2005 as an incomplete restoration project it had all the bodywork properly repaired and repainted. It was given to a Rolls-Royce marque specialist to complete. The owner of the specialists purchased the car in 2012 and while in his ownership he has had it fully maintained; including overhauling the Dunlop brakes, strip-down and restored the carburettors and getting a new complete exhaust system sent over from Italy. Also supplied with the car is a new windscreen. Finished in silver with original maroon leather interior this Flaminia 3B is supplied with a V5 registration document, the original French handbook and a file containing invoices, old MoT test certificates and the import documents since 2005. This very good and reliable example certainly represents good value for money against the Touring and Zagato bodied cars which these are sure to follow.

Lot 227

1972 Jensen Interceptor SP Mk. III Transmission: automaticMileage:2000Alan and his brother Richard Jensen first became involved with car design and construction in 1925 when their efforts to improve on the styling and performance of an Austin Seven Chummy attracted much favourable attention. A few Jensen-bodied Fords were produced in the mid-1930s before a more serious manufacturing effort commenced in 1938. After World War II, Jensen kept itself afloat by producing bodies for other manufacturers, most notably Austin Healey, while producing its own stylish GTs in limited numbers. It was not until the Interceptor's arrival in 1967 that cars began to leave the West Bromwich factory in more substantial numbers. With the Interceptor's introduction, Jensen switched from glass fibre to steel for its car bodies, though underneath the preceding C-V8's chassis, running gear and 6,276 cc Chrysler engine remained substantially unchanged. With around 280 bhp on tap, performance was more than adequate, the motor recording a top speed of 140 mph with 100 mph arriving from a standstill in 19 seconds. Four-wheel servo-assisted Dunlop discs looked after the braking while the ride quality could be varied by the Armstrong Selectaride dampers' dashboard control. Leather upholstery, reclining front seats, and walnut veneer trim were all standard features of this Vignale-styled Anglo-American GT, while automatic transmission was the choice of almost all buyers. The Series II incorporated revised front suspension, Girling brakes and a redesigned interior, while the Series III, introduced in October 1971, came with a 7.2-litre engine, better seats, central locking, and GKN alloy wheels. The SP (six-pack) was the rare one €“ with only 232 being built. Originally registered on the 9th November 1972 this Mk. III Interceptor is presented in white with black diamond stitched leather trim. This example has been subject to a full restoration with bills totalling over £60,000 after an engine fire in 2012, the damage was such that the insurers decided not to repair and thus this is categorised as a Category D. The car now presents extremely well, the mighty 7.2 litre engine is fabulous, and the original SP (six pack) has been removed and replaced with a more user-friendly single twin choked carburettor. A wonderful brute of a British sports car in which the vendor has spent extensively with fabulous results, sensibly estimated, viewing is highly recommended.

Lot 230

1964 Austin Healey 3000 BJ7 Transmission: manualMileage:79714We are pleased to offer this delightful Austin Healey 3000 BJ7, built to represent the Works Healey of 1964. Over an 18 year period EBW 195B underwent extensive restoration works which still exudes with quality today. In fact, rarely seen with such a sports car, that it displays a character and a patina often missed with the overly glitzy restorations on the market so frequently. Retaining the left hand drive format it started with, the British Motoring Heritage Trust Certificate states that this big Healey was manufactured between 27th and 28th June 1963 and was dispatched to the USA on 22nd July of that year. The certificate also confirms that the car was dispatched with wire wheels, overdrive, a heater, an adjustable steering column, tonneau cover, whitewall tyres and a laminated windscreen. The Guards Red coachwork is in excellent order throughout with the standard continuing on the undersides. Of note are the panel gaps, which are an important detail, usually difficult to obtain with restorations of motor cars such as this. The front wings have the addition of the Works style vents and what really sets this Healey off, is the addition of a Works style hardtop with vent. It may be of interest to note that we are not sure whether this is a genuine Works hardtop, but it doesn't have the look of a new reproduction item however. On opening the bonnet, you will see the standard of workmanship has been maintained. The engine is supplied with triple 1¾ SU carburettors and the electrics supplied by an alternator conversion. Exhaust gases are extracted via the stainless-steel side exiting exhaust system. In addition, the brakes have been uprated and drive is via an overdrive gearbox and limited slip differential. In addition to the wire wheels, there is a set of knock-on Minilight style alloy wheels shod with excellent Dunlop SP Sport tyres. The interior continues on the inside with the excellent red piped black Connolly hide seats and matching Wilton carpets. A set of standard bumpers, in excellent condition, are also included should you wish to return this to a more traditional road looking car. The history file is as you would expect, comprehensive with detailed invoices and photos of the restoration combined with more recent works with Healy specialists JME; this includes a full shakedown and tune in April 2021 before a brake overhaul in June 2021 with electronic ignition added. We are informed the car is now a peach to drive and very fast! So, there you have it, a fabulous Austin Healey that is a pleasure to drive, offered from a private collection that looks and feels period and has all the right parts that make it the car it is today. Please inspect this Austin Healey and then ask yourself, what would this Austin Healey cost to build today? With that in mind, we're sure you will agree that it is offered with a very reasonable estimate.

A detailed history of the control column and certificate of authenticity signed by Andy Saunders is included with the lot.Hurricane P3554 saw a great deal of combat during the Battle of Britain having shot down 5 German aircraft in July and August 1940.The operational book of 607 Squadron records that on 5 October 1940, though, P3554 was hit and badly damaged in combat with Messerschmitt 109s of JG2 over Swanage. The pilot, Sergeant Spyer, managed to nurse his badly damaged Hurricane almost all the way back to RAF Tangmere before a growing onboard fire forced him to bale out. Sergeant Spyer was unharmed. P3554 almost buried itself on impact and lay in the ground until it was discovered in 1979.On 22 April 1979 Andy Saunders and members of the Wealden Aviation Archaeological Group pinpointed the crash site of the Hurricane at Woodham Farm, Aldingbourne. At the crash site several pieces of surface wreckage were located, including a broken piece of silver-painted wood (a portion of internal structure) which had the numbers '554' stencilled on it in black. The crash site was excavated on 25 August and items of fuselage and cockpit wreckage were found impacted into the rear of the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine. Andy Saunders entered the excavation once the wreckage had been encountered and spotted the knurled ring of the gun button just above the surface. Reaching around the spade grip, he pulled upwards and extricated almost the complete length of the control column. Its bottom end showed signs of burning and the rest of the column was scorched and had all of the Dunlop rubberised gripping burnt away. The brake lever and one of the stainless steel push rods had broken away but later re-attached. The main build plate confirming Hurricane P3554 was also recovered.Sergeant Richard Alfred Spyer (1917-1941) was born in Worcester Park, Surrey. He joined the RAFVR in March 1939 and on the outbreak of WWII was posted to 10 FTS for training, after completing his training in May 1940 he arrived at 5 OTU and was posted to 111 Squadron at North Weald. On 31 May 1940, Spyer was attached to 607 Squadron at Usworth and served on Hurricanes. This became a permanent posting and he went south with the squadron to Tangmere on 8 September. The following day on the 9th he was engaged by a Me109 and Do17 and his aircraft Hurricane P2680 crashed at Stilstead Farm, East Peckham, Spyer was slightly wounded. On 5 October 1940, he was shot down again, this time in Hurricane P2680.In November 1940 Spyer sailed for the Mediterranean and on 17 November he was in the first flight of six Hurricanes to take off for Malta. Spyer's Hurricane V7413 ran out of fuel and he baled out into the sea and was later picked up by a Sunderland. He joined 261 Squadron at Ta Kali and on 22 March 1941 he and seven other Hurricanes engaged ten Ju88's approaching Grand Harbour with a Me1909 escort. Five of the Hurricanes were shot down including V7672 flown by Spyer, all five were lost, Spyer is commemorated on the Malta Memorial.

Lot 665

The Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII probably marked the zenith of the Evo cult in the UK and this one registered keeper, low mileage FQ-400 is a superb example. This fabulous Evo VIII (Number 57 of 100) is very impressive and certainly one of the best we have ever seen. It was first registered on 1st March 2005 and sold by SGT Mitsubishi in Taplow to its one owner from new and has always been to the same Mitsubishi garage for servicing and maintenance. Our marque-enthusiast vendor explains that the car has been garaged its whole life, is totally rust free and has never had any welding or repairs underneath and, whilst we can’t confirm that, the little Lancer gleams like a new pin and appears virtually showroom fresh. The car is in fantastic condition throughout, the paintwork all appears original, clean and bright, and the interior is again in superb shape with minimal wear even on the drivers-side bolster. It’s fitted with four matching Dunlop Sport Max tyres, (matching tyres are required on this car due to the four-wheel drive system) and all four alloys are 'as new' and have just benefited from a full refurbishment. The car still has the original bung in the exhaust back box. These were actually removed at the dealership at PDI and thrown away, however, the owner requested for this to be replaced as he preferred the car less noisy. In total there are 20 service stamps at Mitsubishi along with a detailed printout of what was done (printout from 2014 as the computer system was updated at that point). The total cost of servicing at Mitsubishi over the years is in excess of £21,000, the cambelt was last done in July 2022 and the car also had a new clutch and flywheel replaced in 2021. The new clutch was from a later Evo 9 as the original FQ-400 clutch is notoriously hard, snatchy and heavy to use.It has also just had a full check over (August 2022), fluid change, diff oils, AYC System, brake fluid and coolant replacement by a local Mitsubishi Specialist. The Alcon front calipers were fully refurbished with new stainless piston by God Speed Brakes and new Alcon pads were also fitted.Number 57/100 is totally original, standard and unmodified with the only exception being a modern Pioneer DAB/Bluetooth head unit. We understand that everything works as it should and the air conditioning is cold. It's supplied with all the normal manuals etc. and the supporting documentation includes the original Bill of Sale, SVA Certificate, V5C, Certificate of Authenticity, both original keys and two remote fobs. This is a seriously quick motor car generating 405bhp from its 2-litre, turbocharged four-cylinder engine and offering 0-60 in 3.8 seconds and 175mph. It's very seldom that we see a performance car of this nature that has covered just over 55,000 miles yet remains in such pristine condition. Remarkable.SpecificationMake: MITSUBISHIModel: EVOYear: 2005Chassis Number: CT9A0303789Registration Number: AU05 TENTransmission: ManualEngine Number: 4963KK5597 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 55415 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Black AlcantaraClick here for more details and images
