The letter includes "I have been introduced to Napoleon who addressed several questions to me. He is now become much more social than formerly and frequently rides out. It is the opinion of many here that he will be allowed to go to England in eight or ten years. He appears to be in bad health on account his being troubled with swelled legs, his limits are enlarged that he may have more exercise ..... Mardens account of Bonaparte is said to be very incorrect by those who came out with him and they give him credit for only about one half of what he states. Bony has seen it himself and is very much displeased at it". A good letter, privately carried to England and posted at Plymouth Dock, charged 1/3. Photo on Page 218.
