A very important and rare Sparton Bluebird model 566 wireless receiver,USA, Designed by Walter D. Teague, 1936,With five valve line-up, period card capacitor block, part of the current dropper mains lead, chassis within ebonised wooden case behind the main feature of circular blue mirror glass, with halo speaker cloth, central Jackson circular dial with silvered pointer, complimented by triple horizontal bars, speaker surround and the three original polished metal knobs all in the period chrome finish, on ebonised roll supports tapered to an angle – 15” high.Footnote: With little made, the country of origin and the fragility to factor in, this rare Art Deco masterpiece is one of the four in the series designed by Teague in 1935-6 at the height of the decade of sophistication. The condition of this example is noted as being totally untouched, with the valves and some circuits recently tested which yielded excellent results. There is a very small chip to the glass on the left-hand side, with the usual slight flaking of the blue anodization towards the top. The chrome shows minimal pitting but no loss, especially to knobs and dial surround. One half-dome foot missing. This Sparton Bluebird is as untouched as they come.

Col Clarence E. Bud Anderson Signature of WWII USAF fighter ace. United States Air Force and a triple ace in World War II. During the war he was the highest scoring ace in his P-51 Mustang squadron. This was the same squadron as well known test pilot and ace Chuck Yeager, and they have remained lifelong close friends. Towards the end of Anderson's two combat tours in Europe in 1944 he was promoted to major at age 22, an extremely young age even for a highly effective officer in wartime. After the war Anderson became a well regarded fighter test pilot, and a fighter squadron and wing commander. He served his wing commander tour in combat in the Vietnam War. He retired as a full colonel in 1972, after which he worked in flight test management for McDonnell Douglas. A member of the National Aviation Hall of Fame, Col. Anderson has remained a sought after speaker at aviation and military events well into his 90's. Good condition. All signed items come with our certificate of authenticty.
