An early 20th Century mahogany cased gramophone cabinet by ApolloHaving a hinged caddy top enclosing the turntable above a pair of central cupboard doors enclosing the speaker and flanked by outer cupboard doors, raised upon tapering legs of square section on splayed feet, width 65cm. Along with a large collection of 78rpm records to include The Crickets, Frankie Vaughan, Perry Como, Harry Bellafonte, Elvis Presley 'Teddy Bear' number RCA 1013, Petula Clark, Doris Day and others. Haines (Joseph) A Satyr against Brandy, first edition, 2pp., drop-head title, a little soiled and creased at edges, [Wing H197], folio, Printed by Jos. Hindmarsh, 1683.⁂ A poem in heroic couplets on the transformation of brandy from a traditional drink of the lower classes to a favourite among reprobates of the higher echelons of society. Haines was a well-known figure of the stage in the late 17th century, first as a dancer (whom Pepys described as "incomparable") and then as an actor and writer/speaker of prologues and epilogues.
