Thomas Cook of Shepton Mallet 12 bore side by side hammer gun, serial number 4175, Black Powder proof only 28 inch damascus barrels engraved with the maker name to the rib, London black powder proof marks, the rotary underlever action is densley engraved with fine scrollwork, the locks engraved with gundogs, highly figured chequered stock. UK SHOTGUN LICENCE OR RFD REQUIRED. 114cm long The gun is outwardly in very nice presentable condition. The barrels ring when tapped, there are some light dents visible to both tubes in several places. The barrels are in proof and measure at:.733 right and .732 left against a proof stamp of 12 (.729) The walls measure a minimum of .22 right and .24 left. The bores have pitting throughout, it is heavier ahead of the chambers and just the odd spot towards the muzzle. Whilst some improvement could be made from lapping it is doubtful it could be completely removed. The barrels are on face and tight on the action with no wobble with the forend removed. The actions function correctly with strong springs. The stock has a repair just ahead of the wrist by the actions, it has also been extended, there is a small chipped away section of wood where the forend has gone thin at the barrel wedge area, there are occasional scratches and dents from use but nothing defacing.

Buyer must be over the age of 18, age verification will be required if the lot is to be posted out. 111.5cm long The rifle is in average condition showing signs of being cleaned up and refinished. The bore has some light pitting scattered throughout, there are no heavy patches and in no point does it break the rifling pattern. The barrel has been reblued, there are pitting spots that can be seen scattered throughout the outside the barrel. There is a little play between the barrel and action when locked shut. The foresight has been replaced. The action works correctly with a strong spring. There is some light pitting spots that can be seen on the polished parts. The forend has a split which has been glued. The barrel key escutcheons stand proud of the surface. The stock has signs of the chequering being recut on the left side. There are signs of tru oil being applied.
